*** Now talking in #suburbansenshi*** Topic is '-= =-' .
<--=[ SpeedRcrX ]=--> I'm sure many a WCW fan winced in pain that horrific time when movie actor David Arquette managed to win the WCW world title shortly before the promotion's demise... I was one of them.
<--=[ SpeedRcrX ]=-->
For
years I'd been ticked off that some actor would just
walk in and take the belt that had been fought for by the likes of Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan (excluding the finger-pointing move of Doom), Booker T and Goldberg... a guy who'd done nothing to deserve the honor (heck, at least Karl Mallone was a true wrestling fan and worked his
[BLEEP] off in the ring when he was there unlike
some visiting sports stars (cough, cough
Dennis Rodman).
<--=[ SpeedRcrX ]=--> Then I read this in Pro Wrestling Torch:
I finished reading Bobby Heenan’s new book today... and he talked about David Arquette giving every penny he made from wrestling to the families of Owen Hart and Brian Pillman, two guys he never met. ( both wrestlers died tragically early in their careers... Owen Hart in the ring.)
<--=[ SpeedRcrX ]=--> Now Bobby "The Brain" Heenan is not the kind of guy who'd make that stuff up... wow, if Arquette really did that, I'm suitably impressed. The fact that he did it and
didn't hype the heck out of it like some might be tempted to impresses me even more. That's class, and makes me think maybe it was possibly
okay that he held that belt for a few days back in 2000.
