According to this
post on Toonzone, Toei's sequel to
Kinnikuman will be designed from the ground up for export, "[featuring] less violence to comply with the preferences of American audiences."
<--=[ SpeedRcrX ]=--> Gah. Toei, it's not that American audiences want less violence, it's that American ad execs want less violence so they can reliably continue to pitch TV as a surrogate babysitter for the legions of soccer moms too busy to actually nurture their own offspring.
<--=[ SpeedRcrX ]=-->
I mean, yeah, they SAY they're making this specifically for export, but if it sells like hotcakes, don't you think they'll continue the watering down to rake in the big bucks from the American / Canadian markets? Let the uber-Disneyfication of Toei commence:
<--=[ SpeedRcrX ]=--> "Next week, on the all-new Dragonball X- Son Goku has a pleasant conversation and thumb wrestling match with the demonic overlord King Viscera, who wants to conquer the planet Earth by violently subjecting its inhabitants to a profoundly disturbing leaflet campaign. ONLY from Toei!"
<--=[ SpeedRcrX ]=--> And what would happen if the Americans suddenly decide for whatever reason that the stuff is STILL too violent? You know how it goes... you can't even watch Tom and Jerry uncut anymore, for crying out loud.
<--=[ SpeedRcrX ]=--> I hope this bombs and bombs BIG TIME.
