[19:42] <Solarchos> The Belial-4 sub-sector? I'm not entirely familiar with that region. I know it was one of the sectors hit hard by the 13th Black Crusade, but according to the Imperium's stellar cartography it's hardly valuable.

Some of the rare ores mined there are used in the focusing arrays of Agrippina-pattern defense lasers and nova cannons. The world is so secret that transport crews conveying ore from there are routinely mind-scrubbed in order to keep the system unknown.

The system does contain a standard Imperial Navy listening post, but little else.

I must advise you to consider our communication security protocols may be inadequate in regards to him. [22:44] <Sailor Nereid> If memory serves, Usagi is a member of the family that was more or less attuned to using it, hence her ability to do so. Vyle has no such connection.

[19:49] *** The four of you have traveled through a long vehicular tunnel that leads back to the makeshift bridge and irradiated river bordering the Red Forrest (which is currently controlled by the Moon-Rabbits). Leaving the tunnel, you find yourself inside a fairly large village of Eastern European construction.
[19:51] *** The road ahead of you is somewhat narrow, bordered on both side by two and three-story stone buildings. There are a few abandoned and rusting vehicles partially blocking the road in some places, many overgrown plants, and the whole place has a dank, dreary, and deteriorated appearance.

[21:13] * Chibi-Alex indicates on a map (and up ahead) that there's aduplex house that has been converted into a fortified waystation and base near the gatehouse checkpoint that connects directly to the Dead City. The Moon-Rabbits have to hold that position as it's the main starting point of their supply chain from the Dead City, through Limansk and the Red Forest and into the Jupiter Sector and Yanov Station.

[19:18] *** The party reached the Moon-Rabbit outpost without too much difficulty.

[19:26] *** The building is a duplex residence: one apartment built atop the other, with an entrance door on each level, with the second story reachable by a partially enclosed staircase.
[19:29] <Megan O`Cain> Hmm.
[19:33] * Megan O`Cain is about to step towards the outpost
[19:34] * GR takes a quick look around for any danger. If Monolith forces are trying to occupy the area, then they most likely have to have some sentries in the area.
[19:38] *** The windows have either been boarded up on both sides, inside AND outside, and the ground floor windows have also been further fortified by metal plates and barrels placed outside and filled with rubble.
[19:41] *** Inside, the floor is made of worn and dirty wooden planks, and almost all of the furniture is gone. The inside consists mostly of small, narrow rooms (typical of European designs) and makeshift furniture to make the place a little more habitable. There IS electricity though, as demonstrated by a single outside light being lit. Almost all of the internal light fixtures are gone though. The Moon-Rabbits are using portable camp lights.

[19:42] * Megan O`Cain carefully makes her way through
[19:43] *** What is noteworthy is that in one of the back rooms the ceiling has been torn open in one place and a rough ramp built that leads up to the second floor. The balcony overlooking the street outside has been fortified with steel sheets, and a few Moon-Rabbits are crouched behind them, aiming rifles and a single belt-fed light machine gun northwards up the street.
[19:44] *** In one of the back rooms on the second floor are a bunch of sleeping bags and bare metal frames assembled to form crude bunk beds. There's also a makeshift kitchen downstairs, and a bunch of storage crates and shelves assembled upstairs to create a small supply depot.
[19:45] * Random Moon-Rabbit aims at you all, looking you all over through the scope of her rifle, which appears to be a battered, but serviceable M-16A2.
[19:46] * Megan O`Cain stops in her tracks as she sees the glint from the scope
[19:48] <Random Moon-Rabbit> HEY!! Come on in! Don't stand there!
[19:49] * Megan O`Cain sighs in relief and heads towards the Moon-Rabbits
[19:54] *** Right next to the outpost building, to the west, is a larger brick building. Running through it is a short tunnel, secured by a sturdy metal gate. This is the route to the Dead City, which is the main home of the Mercenary Faction, and the source of the steady trickle of supplies that the Moon-Rabbits have access to.
[19:54] * GR is taking a quick look around the area. They're running a few ideas through their head....
[19:54] <Megan O`Cain> Hmm.
[19:56] *** Further north the road is partially blocked in places by barricades, and you can even see an intersection that's been fortified by a sandbag wall and an abandoned bus being used as an obstacle. The whole town has clearly seen quite a bit of urban combat.
[19:56] * Chibi-Alex and Chibi-Catri lead everyone inside.
[19:57] <GR>“ (Idea...)”
[19:59] * GR heads over with everyone else. "What's the situation looking like around here?"
[20:01] * Moon-Rabbit Girl waves everyone inside, ushering you all into the main ground floor room, which probably once served as a combination dining room and living room.
[20:02] <Moon-Rabbit Girl> So far we're holding onto our foothold here. Limansk has been a hotbed of Monolith and mutant activity for a long time though.
[20:03] <Megan O`Cain> How long exactly do you know?
[20:05] *** The main room is actually divided into TWO rooms by a wall with an opening in the middle that's large enough to hold double-doors, but clearly never had them installed. Beyond that is the kitchen. The first room serves as an ammo dump and troop area (with the bathroom right next door). The other room serves as a rest area, with a table set up...that is really just a door held up by a couple of sawbucks.
[20:06] <Moon-Rabbit Girl> At least going back several years. It wasn't until the faction known as Clear Sky successfully launched a large-scale invasion through here about a year ago that broke Monolith's hold on Limansk.
[20:08] <Megan O`Cain> Alright, then.
[20:10] * Moon-Rabbit Girl shows you all a map of Limansk. It's a little old, but the Moon-Rabbits have been working to update it. Some areas have been blocked off by circles drawn in orange or grey magic marker, and most of the northern part of the town has lots and lots of post-it notes covering it.
[20:11] <Moon-Rabbit Girl> Right now we've got a couple of scouting parties out and searching. We haven't heard back from them in a while now, so I'm getting worried.
[20:13] <Moon-Rabbit Girl> But their last radio transmission suggested that Monolith forces were gathering here (indicates an area a short distance north that looks like a park next to an abandoned school, and just south of a big orange circle.
[20:14] *** Another Moon-Rabbit comes out of the kitchen, bringing a plate stacked with sandwiches (salami on rye) and a pot of hot and VERY black coffee.
[20:14] <Megan O`Cain> Hmm. And you suspect those forces are still there?
[20:15] <Moon-Rabbit Girl> Without a doubt.
[20:15] <Megan O`Cain> How long ago was the transmission?
[20:16] <Moon-Rabbit Girl> That circle marked there is the "Last Step" Anomaly. That blocks the entire street going north past that point, and the buildings around it form a bottleneck that Monolith always tries to keep a firm hold of.
[20:16] <Moon-Rabbit Girl> The transmission was about an hour ago.
[20:17] <Megan O`Cain> I see.
[20:17] <Moon-Rabbit Girl> That area near that school has seen a big upswing of Monolith patrols starting about a week ago. They're getting more persistent and aggressive.
[20:18] <Megan O`Cain> Well, any chance of giving these a[BLEEP]les the boot?
[20:19] <Moon-Rabbit Girl> They're also bringing more advanced equipment forward. Their upper-tier soldiers are becoming much more common.
[20:19] <Moon-Rabbit Girl> If we had enough people to launch a sustained assault, we could.
[20:21] * Moon-Rabbit Girl shows on the map that Limansk is bisected in the middle by a small river spanned by a single bridge. The other bridge has been marked as destroyed, and the river itself is marked over and over with Rad signs and skulls.
[20:22] *** On the other side of the river is an area of more densely-packed residences.
[20:22] <Moon-Rabbit Girl> North of that river it's ALL owned by Monolith. That whole northern half of town is basically a fortress.
[20:24] <Moon-Rabbit Girl> But that river is a natural barrier. It's lethally radioactive. Falling into it will expose you to hundreds of rads of radiation per minute. We have NO IDEA what's making it so radioactive, so we think it must be running through an Anomaly further upstream.
[20:24] <Megan O`Cain> Hmm.
[20:25] <Moon-Rabbit Girl> That one bridge is the only way across. If THAT can be taken from Monolith and held against them, it'll at least keep this side of Limansk safe from them

[20:26] <Moon-Rabbit Girl> There's a THIRD bridge leading across, but that's inaccessible because of the "Void-hole" Anomalies. There are a bunch of those here.

[20:43] <Moon-Rabbit Girl> Monolith hasn't tried all that hard to push us back. Not yet at least. They seem more interested in trying to secure the area near that school. It's almost like they're searching for something.
[20:44] <Moon-Rabbit Girl> We've managed to keep them at bay for the most part, but the more we drive them back, the more determined they are when they return.
[20:44] <GR>“ Something hiding in the school, eh? Probably either an artifact or something else they want. ”
[20:45] <Moon-Rabbit Girl> We've defeated three squad-sized patrols in the last 24 hours, and the last one had a few Ratnik-equipped soldiers in it.
[20:46] <Megan O`Cain> Ratnik?
[20:47] <Moon-Rabbit Girl> The Ratnik is the name for a combat exoskeleton that the Neo-Soviet Army has begun producing. Early versions of it have been showing up inside the Zone for a while now.

[20:48] <Moon-Rabbit Girl> If Monolith soldiers in combat exoskeletons are showing up, that means a lot of resources are getting spent by them.

[20:51] * Moon-Rabbit Girl points to a few points on the map near where that school is. "Our line of sight to that plaza is partially blocked by some of the buildings, meaning we can't provide full sniper coverage. However, we know that there are a few buildings across from the school that COULD be fortified and used as a bastion to help hold that whole area."
[20:51] <Moon-Rabbit Girl> We've only got ONE combat-ready squad available.
[20:52] <Moon-Rabbit Girl> We'll need your help to lead them into position. We can either deploy them at the plaza and secure it against Monolith, enabling us to properly explore the area for whatever it is they're looking for.

Much as driving them back would work quite well, there's no telling if they'd try to send in a smaller force to sneak around whilst we're occupied with the front lines.”

[19:17] * Megan O`Cain makes absolutely sure her armor systems are fully functional
[19:19] * GR has been scoping out the area, marking down any areas of importance. (Ideas intensify.)
[19:19] *** A few of the Moon-Rabbits have actually managed to upgrade themselves with actual, practical Zone attire, such as the ubiquitous Stalker suit. Most of them, however, have had to make do with scavenged gear such as rubberized tarps as ponchos and cut pieces of car tires for elbow and knee pads. All of them look a little sick and out of sorts.
[19:20] * A Moon-Rabbit lets out a very distressed groan in the bathroom at that moment.
[19:23] <Megan O`Cain> (I hope they're ready. This could be rough going.)
[19:25] *** The Moon-Rabbits preparing to take part in the assault are all stocking up on the last of the supplies they need - a little bit of ammunition for their respective weapons, some food, medical supplies, and...cigarettes? And a HALF cigarette for each of them at that.

[19:30] *** The Moon-Rabbits preparing for this assault mission seem rather under-equipped. Their armor looks like it's all in rather worn shape; they're not maintaining it to nearly the same meticulousness you've seen the Kits keep their own suits.
[19:31] <Megan O`Cain> (Hmmm...)
[19:32] *** They're also each only taking two reloads for their weapons. Their medical supplies consist of a single medical kit equivalent to an IFAK and not much else.
[19:33] *** The food smells like...it's all Zone-produced stuff. Roasted rat and dog meat, maybe with some of those bloated mutant pigs (Fleshes) mixed in too. That stuff may be very easy to find, but it's far from healthy.
[19:34] <Megan O`Cain> (Geez. These guys don't look all that fit to fight.)
[19:34] *** In fact, eating nothing BUT "Zone meat" all the time would likely cause all kinds of health problems in addition to the radioactive exposure. Including probably...diarrhea (the "cha-cha" kind too)?
[19:40] *** It looks like the Moon-Rabbits going out on this assault mission are going out poorly supplied. Like they're experiencing major shortages of almost everything.
[19:42] <Moon-Rabbit Leader> Is everything ready?
[19:42] * Megan O`Cain turns to GR as if to say, "We might have trouble with this group."
[19:43] * GR sees Megan's expression, and so walks over. "Something up?"
[19:44] <Megan O`Cain> I think these guys aren't that well equipped for this job.
[19:46] <Megan O`Cain> I mean, their gear is crap, their weapons don't look that maintained, and their food quality is absolute s[BLEEP]t.
[19:47] <GR> Indeed. This operation may be much tougher than anticipated.... perhaps they ought to be reassigned to other duties?
[19:48] * Moon-Rabbit Leader smiles as she comes over.
[19:48] <Megan O`Cain> I would think so, but where?
[19:49] * Chibi-Alex and Chibi-Catri are on the balcony, maintaining overwatch on the street leading northwards.
[19:51] <GR> If there are any able-bodied enough, I'd say have them work long-range sniping efforts. That, or have them booby-trap a few areas around town to give the Monolith forces a nasty surprise.
[19:54] * Megan O`Cain nods
[19:54] <Moon-Rabbit Leader> Squad! Prepare to move out. Follow their orders to the letter and their lead in battle.
[19:59] * Megan O`Cain stands up from her seat, and puts on her helmet
[20:02] * The Moon-Rabbit Team starts to move out, filing outside into the street and taking cover behind a wrecked UAZ jeep, a couple of trees, a gas stove that was dragged outside, and a strange-looking blue colored exterior mailbox meant for all the original residents of this block.
[20:04] * Megan O`Cain heads out of the building, and tactically makes her way towards the plaza
[20:05] * GR makes their own way towards the plaza, using a slightly more roundabout route. On their way there, they decide it's time to put their great-godmother's tactic to use.
[20:06] *** The weather's taken a bit of a turn for the worse. It's now snowing, and the sky has taken on that familiar half-light that's so common throughout the Zone, casting everything into a dim overcast.
[20:08] <GR>“ (Snow... figures. At least it'll help camoflauge the little surprises I have in store.)”
[20:08] * Megan O`Cain uses her helmet's combo of FLIR and UV to see things a little better
[20:11] *** Advancing, you see that the narrow street is bordered on both sides by equally narrow sidewalks, small low terraces holding grass and other foliage, and more of the small apartment houses, with a barricade set up at the middle of the street. JEEZ, the way ahead is almost a fatal funnel!
[20:12] <Megan O`Cain> Hmmm...
[20:16] *** Reaching the barricade, it's a lot safer.
[20:22] *** Ahead, you can see a four way intersection. There's a partially enclosed kiosk nearby at one of the corners, and on the far side of the intersection you can see the sandbags that have been stacked up to block the road. There's also a small staircase on the left leading up the side of yet another apartment building.
[20:22] <GR>“ (That ought to do it. Now then, where might the enemy forces decide to invade from?)”
[20:23] * Megan O`Cain looks over to see what the best course of action is
[20:24] <Chibi-Alex> You're halfway there. The plaza is past that intersection. There's a small park in the center of the plaza, with the road running past it and buildings on all four sides.
[20:31] * Megan O`Cain carefully begins her way to the plaza, M16A4 ready in her hands
[20:32] *** Beyond the sandbags, the street continues. The staircase leads up to a balcony on the second floor of the building, which is a little more decorated than most of the other buildings you've seen in Limansk so far.

[20:42] *** The Moon-Rabbits keep moving forward slowly, using whatever cover they can find.
[20:45] * GR continues on their path. Idly, they spin one of their throwing knives in their right hand, as if anticipating a sudden attack. (Come to think of it, where is the school the Monolith Forces are so intent on getting to?)
[20:47] <Megan O`Cain> Okay, where to next?
[20:49] *** Up ahead, in the increasing gloom created by the falling snow (which is a dirty dark grey in color), you see the park. It's a small, simple thing consisting of four paths converging on a small, broken fountain. There are splintered wooden benches along the paths, large thick trees and bushes, and a low fence surrounding everything. To the north of that, across the street, is a large three-story brick building with four pillars on the front holding a balcony up over the main entrance.

[19:14] *** One of the Moon-Rabbits shrieks and staggers backwards as he's struck multiple times across the chest and shoulder by a hail of bullets. A couple more strike him in his thigh as he starts to fall and he hits the ground, never getting a chance to fire a single shot.
[19:15] *** The other Moon-Rabbits rush for the trees, duck behind the broken fountain, sprawl behind what's left of one of the benches, or rush behind a nearby derelict truck that's in fairly good condition...and looks SUSPICIOUSLY like the Mystery Machine.
[19:21] * Megan O`Cain fires at any Monolith soldiers that are in her sights
[19:21] *** Some of the Moon-Rabbits start shooting back, snapping off single shots when they can while the Monolith soldiers lay down suppressive burst-fire.

[19:21] * GR readies their knives. These ones are monofilament, more than capable of piercing through armor with ease. Add in their ability to toss them at speeds easily eclipsing Mach 15 and you know that one hit is more than enough to kill.

[19:23] *** Overhead, the storm is getting a little worse. The wind is picking up slowly, pushing the falling snow into whorls and eddies in midair and on the ground. Red-colored lightning begins to flash within the clouds, and geiger counters begin to crackle faintly in the meantime.
[19:24] *** Megan, your shots strike one of the Monolith soldiers fully in the FACE, punching through his mask and skull and erupting out the back in a great gout of...BLACK?! He crumples to the ground, dead.

[19:28] * GR lets their knives fly.
[19:28] <Megan O`Cain> Under fire! We got Monolith!

[19:29] * GR lets loose about.... 100?! Where did they even get the space to carry that many knives?

[19:32] *** You hear an incredible amount of wet thuds as the blades strike quite a few Monolith, and a few more bodies hit the ground, each of them skewered by several dozen blades sticking out of their limbs and backs and heads.
[19:33] * Megan O`Cain continues firing at the Monolith soldiers with her assault rifle
[19:33] *** A flare is fired up into the air, casting the entire plaza into bright orange light!
[19:37] *** In the distance you can now hear the distinctive thud of helicopter rotors beginning to slowly get louder.
[19:38] *** At the same time, a few Monolith soldiers wearing THIS begin to approach!

[19:43] * Monolith in Ratnik Suits start sweeping the plaza with heavy automatic fire, while the ba[BLEEP]rd with the grenade launcher fires a shot at the Ukranian "Mystery Machine"!!

[19:44] <spiritflame> Moon-Rabbits rolls 1d20 [ 20 ]
[19:46] * Moon-Rabbits manage to flee the blast area and are unharmed as the "Mystery Machine" is literally blown twenty feet STRAIGHT UP into the air, then falls back down after a few seconds, landing almost perfectly on what's left of its wheels, but the force of the impact literally PANCAKES it on the pavement. Its sides are crushed, the roof implodes, and whatever Scooby-Snacks might have been inside are certainly incinerated by the explosion.
[19:47] * GR switches tactics, putting the knives away. They point a hand at the Ratniks.... and with a gesture, form a strong tornado to sweep them all up!
[19:47] * A Monolith soldier leaps at GR and clubs them with the stock of his AK-74.
[19:50] * GR quickly turns with clearly inhuman reflexes and swipes at the solider. It's a blink and you'll miss it moment, but something flashes out from their wrist and cleaves through the air... and potentially through the soldier and their weapon at once!
[19:50] * Megan O`Cain is still firing at the enemy troops, including the Ratniks (who are now her targeting priority)
[19:52] * A Monolith soldier falls before GR. His lower torso falls forward, his UPPER torso falls backward, and black blood sprays EVERYWHERE.
[19:52] <GR>“ (Obsidian Blood.... curious.)”
[19:53] *** The Monolith power armor troops are the only ones left now. They continue to hold their ground, their armor absorbing an impressive amount of damage, but bullets are getting through here and there...and drawing MORE of that black blood from them.

[20:12] * The Moon-Rabbits are still fighting too, snapping off shots at the Monolithers and still chipping away at their armor, but they're clearly at a disadvantage.
[20:13] * GR decides that subtlety needs to go. With a gesture, part of their suit comes alive and forms into a massive storm of sharpened bits. Those bits fly off at speeds undectable by even the most sophisticated arrays to give the Monolith forces a seriously nasty shave.

[20:24] *** The Monolith soldiers are all flung backwards by the impacts, transforming them all into confetti and sludge...and blowing the trees in the line of fire apart AND destroying the equipment the soldiers were all carrying. Including their armor suits.

[20:25] *** You hear a loud BANG behind you both as a Moon-Rabbit fires a LAW rocket into the sky, but completely misses the Monolith helicopter approaching.

[20:27] *** HOLY CRAP! That's not a Hind gunship approaching, it's a Kamov Ka-50!! That's an ultra-modern attack helicopter!!! Where the hell did Monolith get one of those?!?!?!
[20:30] * The Kamov Ka-50 approaches, opening fire with multiple chainguns!!
[20:31] * Megan O`Cain puts away her rifle, and then takes aim at the Kamov with her arm cannon
[20:34] * GR recollects the armor fragments, and takes a new approach. They leap to the top of one of the more stable buildings..... and with their new target confirmed, begin to make a powerful gravitational distortion around the Kamov. Get the blades and engines overworked, and it'll be a sitting duck!
[20:37] * The Kamov Ka-50 gets held in place, but its pilot quickly tries to swivel around to put GR in the line of fire for its 30mm autocannon!
[20:37] <GR>“ Sorry, but you're about to find a nasty surprise waiting for you.”
[20:38] * The Moon-Rabbits are currently rushing to get to cover from that helicopter!
[20:38] * The Moon-Rabbits only had the ONE LAW rocket too!
[20:39] * Megan O`Cain fires her arm cannon at the Kamov

[20:40] * Kamov Ka-50 shudders as it takes a hit, but it continues to hold together.

[20:42] * GR clenches their hand, and makes the gravitational well increase even further.
[20:43] *** A few missiles streak down towards you all, but were aimed haphazardly. One missile strikes further up the street...but gets caught in midair by a weird pulsating shimmering mass, spinning around maddeningly as its propulsion system still operates. Then the missile is crushed into the size of a beer can in an eye-blink and drops to the ground, squirting explosive matter out the cracks.
[20:45] *** The other missiles strike elsewhere. One hits the park, blasting several of the remaining trees out of the ground and transforming the fountain into gravel. The other missiles strike elsewhere in Limansk, away from the immediate area.
[20:53] * GR brings their free hand back..... and as they thrust it forward, something forms out of thin air to impale the Kamov. Whatever it is defies description....
[20:54] * Megan O`Cain is still firing her arm cannon at the Kamov
[20:55] *** The Kamov EXPLODES in mid-air, crashing into the town about a block away, scattering debris far and wide.
[20:56] * The Moon-Rabbits slowly emerge from hiding and take a moment to assess the situation. Then they RUSH at the Monolith corpses and dive onto them.
[20:58] * The Moon-Rabbits start searching and stripping the bodies of everything useful.
[20:59] <Random Moon-Rabbit> Roan is dead!
[21:00] <Other Moon-Rabbit> Grab everything you can off of him then. We'll bring back the body in a little bit. SECURE THE PLAZA.
[21:00] <Chibi-Alex> Is everyone all right? What's your status now?
[21:01] <Megan O`Cain> Monolith down. Had to take out a helo and exos in the process.
[21:02] <GR> GR here. Looks like the worst of the forces have been routed. I'm feeling quite all right, so I plan on taking a quick look around, make certain we don't have any stragglers.
[21:09] *** All of the Monolith soldiers are dead, chopped up pretty badly and leaking black liquid everywhere. Sadly, most of their equipment was pretty badly damaged in the fight. The Moon-Rabbits weren't able to salvage as much as they would have liked (which is important in the Zone).
[21:10] *** Checking out the plaza, you can see a few things of interest. Near the school (which isn't an elementary school but some kind of technical school) there's a small staircase leading down. On the other side of the plaza is an archway in the side of one of the buildings that seems to have caught a Moon-Rabbit's interest.
[21:10] * Megan O`Cain uses her visor to analyze the black liquid
[21:11] *** The liquid is Human blood, but it's stained somehow.
[21:15] <Megan O`Cain> That doesn't look good at all. (tries to get a further analysis)
[21:15] * GR marks down this school, then leaps over to confirm what the Moon-Rabbit has found.
[21:17] *** Megan you easily obtain a sample of the stuff. Also, roll 1d20 please.
[21:18] *** GR, you find the Moon-Rabbit girl is point at the archway. It's actually a small porch with a sealed door just inside, but there's also a door off to the side that's been concealed but is partially open.

[21:20] *** Megan, this Monolith soldier is wearing some kind of drug harness around his neck.
[21:21] <Megan O`Cain> Drug tainting? (tries to carefully extract the harness from the body)

[21:22] * GR heads over to investigate this door.
[21:25] *** Behind the door is a staircase leading down.
[21:27] <GR> GR here. One of the Moon-Rabbits found a hidden door. I'm planning on checking it out.
[21:28] *** The staircase leads straight downward, then turns sharply to the left.
[21:29] <Megan O`Cain> Megan here. Seems Monolith has been drugging themselves to no end to the point their blood is blackened.
[21:31] <GR>“ It's likely an attempt to make themselves more effective in combat. That, or someone's getting quite desperate for new troops.”
[21:33] *** The stairs are lit by some small electrical lights in some places. There's clearly power down there.
[21:34] <GR> Anyway, keep an eye out for any potential stragglers. There's power clearly being routed to this facility --- I'm headed in.
[21:35] * GR begins to head down the stairs.
[21:37] <Megan O`Cain> On it.
[21:40] *** The stairs continue to lead downwards past the landing, then turn sharply again to the left. You've gone down a good two stories so far.
[21:41] <GR>“ (Place looks remarkably well-preserved for being inside this place. Something big must be down here....)”
[21:44] * Megan O`Cain looks around the plaza some more
[21:45] * GR continues descending.
[21:46] *** The Moon-Rabbits are securing the plaza, setting up a machine gun nest at the barricades near the "Last Step" anomaly.
[21:52] *** GR, you finally get down to the bottom of the stairs and enter into a chamber. This place is odd. A short distance inside the doorway there's a step down, forming what looks like a shallow empty pool that's about a foot deep. Pillars are set up regularly around the circumference of the dry pool. This is VERY odd because someone obviously deliberately built this chamber like this.
[21:55] *** On the far side of the room, brightly lit by a functioning ceiling light, is a sliding door that's partially open. The door itself was designed to blend in seamlessly with the stone wall.
[21:58] * GR taps something on the side of their helmet, nabbing a few images of this location. The images are first saved to a micro data-crystal, and then duplicates are sent back to Megan and the others for secondary opinions.
[22:00] * Megan O`Cain looks at the images GR took
[22:07] * GR heads over to check out the sliding door. (And what have we here?)
[22:08] *** The door didn't close properly because a thick pipe had gotten lodged across the threshold, keeping it from sealing shut. Beyond the door you can just make out computer equipment.

[22:10] * GR heads in to check this equipment out. What clues might be obtained here?

[19:18] *** The room itself is fairly big, roughly 20 feet wide and about 12 feet across. There are banks of servers along the walls, various computer monitors in the far wall, and primary workstation in the middle of the room.

[19:19] *** The computer equipment itself is an eclectic mix. Some of it is late Cold War vintage, while other bits are fairly modern, or even ultra-modern.

[19:20] * GR takes a few more images of this location, copies them over, and sends the copies over towards everyone else. Now it's time to investigate these computers.

[19:20] *** You literally see some of those early-style mainframes that were the size of soda machines (pre-1990s tech), cathode ray tube monitors attached to backlit keyboards and wireless mice, some flatscreen plasma monitors, and even a few things that look like holographic displays.

[19:23] * GR heads over to the closest monitors, and checks what displays they might have.
[19:26] *** The monitors are all powered down. Everything seems to be in standby mode. Maybe the power's out? There are dimly-lit lights up on the ceiling so there IS electricity in the room though.
[19:27] * GR looks around for whatever should be able to power these monitors back on.

[19:35] *** Checking the back of the room, you find a pretty old style breaker panel. It looks like some parts of it were switched off. Pretty old tech.

[19:37] * GR carefully checks to see if the breakers are labeled. Last thing they want to do is flip one and suddenly have somewhere else either go dark or light up.

[19:43] *** The monitors all light up, showing just static or the Blue Screen of Death. Or nothing at all. Some of them have broken down in the harsh environment of the Zone.

[19:55] *** In the holograms you can see things shaking periodically, alarm prompts flashing, and hear the sounds of explosions in the far distance.

[20:11] <Leona Morimoto (hologram)> ♦ At this very moment the Van Saar are preparing to celebrate their victory against the Alliance in the Necronium War.
[20:12] <Leona Morimoto (hologram)> ♦ Their main fleet has engaged the Ravager, but it's too late for them to stop the Kamikaze. But...it's too late for US as well.

[20:57] *** The holographic display clouds again, then clears, showing a different location altogether. The timestamp indicates this was taken in 2009.
[21:00] *** You see an aerial point-of-view of a densely-packed city surrounded by extensive wilderness. Rain is coming down hard, but there are still fighter craft by the hundreds circling over the city and climbing higher on nearly ballistic trajectories. Rapid flashes of light are rapidly shooting up into the sky as well.
[21:02] *** The fighter craft are all firing cannons and launching missiles like crazy at something massive descending through the clouds, the air before it engulfed in a near-solid wall of steam light brightly from within by a fiery glow like an erupting volcano.
[21:03] <Megan O`Cain> Huh...
[21:05] *** The smoke gradually dissipates, revealing the blocky, savagely utilitarian prow of an Astartes strike cruiser. More are dropping down through the storm clouds as well. The missiles and cannon-fire from the ground strike the gargantuan vessels easily, but splatter against their armor with all the effectiveness of a flyswatter against an elephant.
[21:05] <~> - We are the Van Saar. -
[21:07] *** Point-defense cannons on the strike cruisers all start firing, cutting a swath through the defending aircraft as dozens upon dozens of teardrop-shaped pods erupt out of the bottom of the strike cruisers and rocket down towards the city itself.
[21:07] <~> - Armies will be shattered. -
[21:08] *** The camera point-of-view changes to on the ground. Alliance soldiers are crowding the streets and getting into cover as they watch several of the large pods streak down from the sky and slam into the ground nearby.
[21:09] <Megan O`Cain> I see. This was during the Zealot War.
[21:11] *** The Alliance Marines open fire all at once as the thick doors on the sides of the pods fold open. A moment later the Alliance soldiers start dying by the dozens as they're struck by a continuous barrage of devastatingly accurate and brutally effective high-explosive rounds that punch through their armor and detonate gruesomely INSIDE their bodies.
[21:11] <GR> Damn. These guys don't f[BLEEP]k around.
[21:12] <Megan O`Cain> Bolt rounds. No doubt about it.
[21:12] *** Massive humanoid figures encased inside dark grey power armor emerge from their drop pods, shrugging off the attacks of the Alliance soldiers and laying down an enormous hail of fire from their boltguns that will leave few, if any, survivors before them. The Ghost Foxes have landed.
[21:13] <~> - Worlds will burn. -
[21:16] *** The scene switches to a different street. A tank is frantically reversing, firing its cannons as quickly as they're able as a massive Mecha stomps towards it rapidly. As the tank skids and tries to change direction, it's struck by an enormous gout of greenish slime vomited from the mouth of the Mecha...which looks more like some kind of Kaiju encased in armor and cybernetically augmented!
[21:18] <Megan O`Cain> Now what was that?
[21:19] *** The tank's armor quickly dissolves and it begins to fold and collapse on itself. Meanwhile, the Bio-Mech continues to stomp forward, followed closely by a large number of Predator-Fafnir grav-tanks and Leman Russ tanks. A few more Alliance tanks attempt to shoot at the Bio-Mecha, but it quickly closes the distance and literally SLAPS the tanks aside, roaring like it's shouting "GET THAT S[BLEEP]T OUTTA HERE, B[BLEEP]CH!!!"
[21:20] <GR> And to think, this is supposed to have happened around 10 years ago...
[21:21] <Megan O`Cain> Indeed.
[21:22] *** The scene switches to a massive plaza dominated by an equally giant statue that looms over everything like an Amazonian goddess of grim visage.
[21:23] *** THOUSANDS of Alliance soldiers have assembled across the plaza, supported by hundreds of tanks, armored fighting vehicles, and self-propelled artillery. All of them take aim at the streets on the far side.
[21:25] *** Bio-Mecha, Reaver Titans, and Imperial Knights rush into the plaza from the opposite side, spearheading a wave of Leman Russ tanks, Land Raiders, and Baneblade super-heavy tanks. The skies overhead darken even further. Not from the storm though.
[21:25] *** NIGHTGAUNTS! Thousands of them! The cities' fighter cover is quickly being overwhelmed and annihilated.
[21:28] *** The Alliance opens fire with everything it has, tearing into the oncoming horde with a spectacular barrage that engulfs the Imperial Guard in a wave of fire. One of the Bio-Mecha staggers and falls as it takes a series of blasts that rips open its hull and blows one of its limbs off in a gruesome eruption of gore and viscera.
[21:30] <~> - Now, at last, on this world, vengeance shall be mine. -
[21:32] *** One of the Alliance soldiers looks up to see a cluster of drop-pods SLAM into the ground behind their defensive lines. All attempts at shooting them down had failed as multiple Nightgaunt drone-fighters sacrificed themselves to the AA fire, their flame-engulfed forms crashing to the ground a few seconds later.
[21:35] *** From out of the carnage and wreckage caused by the drop-pods emerge the blocky forms of a pair of heavily-armed and reinforced Space Marine Dreadnaughts. One is equipped with a pair of massive claws large enough to disembowel an elephant with a single blow. The other is equipped with a Vulcan cannon and a massive sword. The air around both shimmers against the rain, revealing the existence of shield generators. Both attack with a savageness that almost seems gleeful.
[21:37] *** Between the two Dreadnaughts, however, is a third figure. It's obscured by a thick dark oily mist that envelops it like a shroud, but the eyes glow with a steady blue-green light.
[21:39] *** The figure steps forward, ignoring the automatic fire now being concentrated on him, raises an arm, and the thick mist that surrounds him EXPLODES in all directions, sweeping outwards like a tidal wave of ebon darkness.
[21:39] *** And people start dying. Very quickly.
[21:41] <Megan O`Cain> Yikes.
[21:43] *** The statue takes several direct hits from battle cannon fire and collapses. As the Imperial Guard sweeps through the plaza and plunges further into the city, the clouds in the distance part as an Alliance destroyer falls from the sky, engulfed in flames. It crashes a few seconds later, instantly transforming an entire section of the city into an annihilated hellscape.
[21:46] *** The miasma-wreathed figure climbs up on top of an abandonded Alliance Warthog and watches as the Imperial Guard surges through, giving him a wide berth. The dark mist hangs low on the ground all around...and many of the slain Alliance soldiers begin to sit up once more, their features pallid with blackened veins visible and eyes sunken deep in their sockets.
[21:47] *** Standing a short distance away, watching everything with a grim expression...oh s[BLEEP]t is that YUKARI?
[21:49] *** Yukari watches with satisfaction as the recently slain Alliance soldiers start to follow the Imperial Guard at the order of their master.
[21:51] * Megan O`Cain tries to see who the miasma-wreathed figure is
[21:51] *** The miasma-wreathed figure hops down off of the Warthog and continues onwards, his Dreadnaughts marching along on either side of him, the newly-raised undead gathering all around.

[18:39] <Chibi-AnTil> The most direct route towards the Jupiter Station would be to head south towards the military checkpoint, then turn east and approach the plant from the cooling pools. But according to the LAC scouts, that area is pretty dangerous. Lots of mutants have been spotted there over the past week.
[18:39] <Chibi-AnTil> Fleshes, Pseudo-giants, Bloodsuckers, and even Chimera. There's also been quite a few Zombies wandering around.
[18:42] <Chibi-AnTil> So! We'll have the Lunar Assault Corps launch an assault from the EASTERN side of the Jupiter Plant, while WE approach from a different route.
[18:44] * Chibi-AnTil outlines on the map, pointing at a road north of Yanov Station that runs parallel to the railroad tracks for a long way, then curves southwards near the artificial stream that ran towards the Chernobyl NPP. The road turns south along with the railroad tracks, continuing to run parallel with it all the way to the outskirts of the Jupiter Plant.
[18:47] <Chibi-AnTil> We'll take the longer route around, bypassing the direct approach to the Plant and hopefully avoiding the worst threats. Then while the Lunar Assault Corps attack the plant from one direction and hopefully draw off any bandits, Monolith, Zombies and mutants, we'll come up from the northern side of the complex.

The APCs split into two groups, with half a dozen APCs turning east and driving directly towards the Plant across mostly open land, while the other group keeps driving south on the road that runs through some light woods. The road will link up with another road that runs into the Plant, crossing a bridge that runs over the empty cooling pools that form a shallowly sloping moat of sorts on that side of the Jupiter Plant
[19:31] * The Moon Rabbits ' APCs all converge towards the Jupiter Plant, their occupants loading their weapons and making final checks.

[20:10] * The Kits and their cousins begin to jog steadily away from Yanov Station, passing by some nearby abandoned two-story apartments surrounding the train station, then turning south onto a road that runs straight up a slight hill.
[20:11] * Reisen Udongein Inaba follows, hefting a belt-fed machine gun over her shoulder.
[20:11] * Megan O`Cain follows the kits as she carries her M16A4
[20:11] * Sheila Marksvov follows as well.
[20:11] * GR follows closely behind, bow and daggers at the ready.
[20:12] * A strange portal OPENS!!!
[20:14] *** Meanwhile, the first group of APCs screech to a halt as they arrive on the wide area of broken asphalt that surrounds most of the Jupiter Plant. The partially open main gates of the Plant are ahead, and Monolith soldiers are already starting to rush out, along with a large group of lumbering, stumbling figures that shuffle forward, firing their weapons.
[20:16] *** The first group returns fire! The machine guns on the APCs top-mounted turrets start firing while the Moon-Rabbits inside start to dismount from side and roof hatches.
[20:17] * Nelius Raoul and his entourage clamber out of the portal. Where might they be in relation to the battle, o Narrator?
[20:18] *** The second group of APCs clear the woods and quickly drive across the bridge (knocking aside a couple wrecked vehicles in the process). A couple APCs run down the slope of the empty cooling pool and quickly cross the smooth, concrete surfaces towards the Jupiter Plant.
[20:18] *** The portal opened right next to the Kits' Group! You're all right alongside them!
[20:18] * Capt. David O`Cain has followed Nelius and his group into the Zone
[20:19] <Nelius Raoul> ...well, this is something. Greetings.
[20:21] <GR>“ Greetings indeed. It took about three months, but finally we meet.”

[20:23] * Chibi-AnTil points ahead towards the checkpoint at the very top of the hill.
[20:23] <Janice> You know us--- never one to pass up a golden opportunity to cause some mayhem! :D
[20:24] <Anesha> Whew, looks like the festivities are already underway.
[20:25] *** In the distance you can hear a LOT of machine gun fire!
[20:25] <Megan O`Cain> Sounds like it's begun.
[20:26] <Nelius Raoul> So what's the game plan?
[20:27] *** Rushing along the road, you all see on your left a strange grove of trees. A noxious green mist surrounds the grove, and all of the trees look twisted and malformed in unnatural wats.

[20:28] * Anesha looks rather disturbed by that grove. Given her innate connection to plantlife....
[20:29] * Megan O`Cain tries to get a better view of what's going on
[20:29] *** The grove is very strange. There's clearly something unnatural about it, possibly a reaction to the Zone itself.
[20:30] *** Meghan, you can see that the road is clear all the way up the hill. You can even see a small patrol of Moon-Rabbits coming down the road to meet everyone and keep the road clear.
[20:30] <Anesha> Normally I don't get the heebie-jeebies, but something about that spot makes me want to vomit.
[20:31] * Megan O`Cain motions for everyone to come to her as she sees friendlies up ahead
[20:32] <Gwen> It's an Anomaly zone. The plants there have become mutated and toxic. That mist is actually corrosive.
[20:32] * Capt. David O`Cain goes up to Megan's location
[20:32] <Anesha> Ick.
[20:32] * Janice and Monica head up to Megan's position.
[20:37] <Janice> Ah, friendly faces.
[20:37] <Megan O`Cain> Yep. We got a small patrol coming our way.
[20:38] * The Kits keep jogging steadily along. Despite all of the gear they're carrying, they're maintaining a fairly steady pace.
[20:39] * Zotia and Nelius keep to the rear of the group, mainly to ensure they don't get snuck up on.
[20:41] * The Moon-Rabbit patrol stops some distance away from you all and aim their weapons into the overgrown field of woods and scrub off to the right,
[20:42] * The Moon-Rabbits wave for everyone to pass them while they cover all of your approach.
[20:43] * Megan O`Cain and her brother both walk by the Moon-Rabbits, but keep their weapons ready as they look at the overgrown wooden field
[20:45] *** There are things moving among the thick bushes of those woods. Porcine squeals can be heard, as well as some distant gunfire further in those woods.
[20:45] * GR has their bow at the ready, in case anything does try shambling from that thicket. Meanwhile, Nelius, Anesha and Zotia quickly catch up to everyone else.
[20:47] *** At the top of the hill you can see that the road leads past a small military encampment consisting of a few sturdy buildings surrounded by some damaged fencing. The road runs through it and you can see typical vehicle checkpoints at either end of the small base. Good news though; there are quite a few Stalkers and Moon-Rabbits guarding the place!
[20:49] <Megan O`Cain> Looks like we're good.
[20:50] <Chibi-AnTil> Looks like it!

[20:51] * Sheila Marksvov is gasping a little by now!

[20:53] <Sheila Marksvov> I swapped a lot of what I own for the lightest gear I could find and I'm still carrying over 30 kilos of equipment!

[20:56] <Chibi-Antil> What's the latest news from the front?
[20:57] * Random Stalker waves everyone through the checkpoint at the entrance of the base.

[21:02] * Random Moon-Rabbit leads everyone towards a nearby build that used to be a garage. It even has a narrow passage set in the middle of the floor where someone can crawl underneath to perform vehicle maintenance. A narrow metal staircase leads up the side of the building to a barracks room that takes up the second story of the small building.
[21:03] *** Several Moon-Rabbits have been busy setting up a small radio post inside the barracks room, pushing aside some of the beds and moving around a couple of the old desks.
[21:06] <Random Moon-Rabbit> The advance force has engaged the Monolith soldiers that are occupying the Jupiter Plant.
[21:11] <Capt. David O`Cain> How are things looking there?
[21:13] <Random Moon-Rabbit> They're encountering a lot of resistance. There are quite a few Zombies and Monolith is using them as shields against our weapons.
[21:15] <Random Moon-Rabbit> There are some mutants too. The second group reported running into a pair of Pseudo-giants near a large warehouse that's filled with electrical Anomalies. They're right alongside the Concrete Bath Anomaly too. However, they've detected Artifacts inside both Anomaly areas.
[21:15] <Janice> Zombies, eh? Lemme guess-- the general state of the Zone is what reanimates 'em?
[21:16] <Capt. David O`Cain> I see. Which would take priority?
[21:17] <Gwen> Actually no.
[21:17] <Megan O`Cain> It almost sounds like Monolith is t he bigger threat than Zombies. Where are they located?
[21:18] <Gwen> The Zombies are all Stalkers who were either rendered brain-dead by the Brain Scorcher, were caught outside in a Psi-Storm or Emission, or fell prey to certain Mutants or psionic-based Anomalies.
[21:19] <Chibi-AnTil> If we try to get those Artifacts, we'll lose time. We should follow up behind the Moon-Rabbits and try to support them.
[21:20] <Megan O`Cain> Understood.
[21:20] <Random Moon-Rabbit> The Monolith soldiers are all inside the Jupiter Plant. We don't think there are all that many of them, but they're using the buildings as cover and putting up a fierce defense.
[21:20] <Janice> Ah.
[21:22] <Nelius Raoul> Well, with all of us here, it shouldn't take too long to clear out the Monolith forces.
[21:24] <Capt. David O`Cain> Yeah.
[21:26] <Chibi-Catri> Then we'll move out and immediately join in!
[21:27] <Capt. David O`Cain> Let's do it!

[19:10] * Capt. David O`Cain and his sister both attach ACOG/Holo hybrid sights onto their rifles
[19:11] *** The area between the checkpoint and the outskirts of the Jupiter Plant is dotted with scrub bushes and the occasional tree. Far ahead there is the remains of a barb-wire fence and the wooden fence posts that used to hold it up.
[19:12] <Capt. David O`Cain> Hmm...
[19:12] *** The bottoms of the empty cooling pools are partially filled with dirt, dead leaves, occasional discarded junk, and other miscellaneous detritus of the Zone. A few of the APCs rolled across the bottom of the pools in order to avoid direct line-of-sight with the walls of the Jupiter Plant and managed to evade detection by any sentries on the walls.
[19:14] *** Near the base of the western wall, however, is some kind of recessed pool set into the ground filled with some kind of shifting, viscous green sludge that generates a wispy yellow-green mist. That's the Concrete Bath Anomaly.
[19:16] <Megan O`Cain> Which way do you suppose is the best route to go?
[19:20] *** Way up ahead, past the edge of the bridge that connects to the main driveway that leads up to the main entrance, the APCs are pulling into position, firing their machine guns in sporadic bursts while the Moon-Rabbits are all dismounting and moving into position.
[19:21] * Fiona is also scanning the perimeter wall of the Plant.
[19:22] * Chibi-Catri is also scanning the walls, but she's doing so through the scope of her rifle.
[19:23] <Chibi-Catri> I can't see any damage to that wall that we could move through. From what the scouts have said, there's only two ways inside.
[19:23] <Chibi-Catri> The main entrance, and through the administrative building further down.
[19:26] *** You can hear the very distinctive sounds of AK rifles firing inside the Jupiter Plant's walls. Monolith is fighting back pretty fiercely.
[19:26] <Megan O`Cain> Shall we move in?
[19:28] <Chibi-AnTil> Definitely.
[19:28] <Chibi-AnTil> Main entrance. We'll follow in behind the Moon-Rabbits and lend them what support we can.
[19:29] <Sheila Marksvov> I like! Down the middle and UP YOURS, MONOLITH!
[19:29] * Megan O`Cain and her brother both nod
[19:30] <Capt. David O`Cain> Main entrance it is to help the LDC.
[19:32] * The Kits and their cousins rush across the field towards the APCs. It's a good several hundred meters to get there! Meanwhile, the weather has undergone a rapid and unexpected change, going from partly cloudy to deeply overcast, the sun reduced to a dull reddish glow trickling through the gloom.

[19:33] * Capt. David O`Cain and Megan follow closely
[19:36] *** An RPG is fired at one of the Moon-Rabbit APCs, but the warhead hits at a steep angle and deflects off of the angled steel plating, detonating a half-second AFTER it hits. The explosion actually occurs a few meters away from the vehicle, rattling its occupants severely, but not fatally.
[19:38] *** You all soon reach the main entrance. The steel doors have been pushed open by one of the leading APCs, which has driven through into a large open area and parked in the middle of a road that runs through the outskirts of the Plant.
[19:41] * The Moon-Rabbits have begun their assault, advancing en mass on either side of the road, moving alongside the buildings to either side. The road ahead is littered with strewn debris and obscured by tall weeds and overgrown bushes growing up in places through the broken asphalt and concrete. Even the road's surface is uneven due to subsidence.
[19:44] * Several Moon-Rabbits are being carried back from the front line of the advance, wounded and bleeding badly. Monolith soldiers are hiding inside the buildings ahead and behind low walls and pylons. The withering fire they're giving in return is taking its toll, and some of them are tossing grenades and even Molotov c[BLEEP]ktails.
[19:46] * Gwen attempts to help some of the wounded Moon-Rabbits.
[19:46] * Capt. David O`Cain seeks cover, and takes aim with an M203 under-barrel grenade launcher
[19:47] * Megan O`Cain aims her M16A4 at on of the buildings Monolith soldiers are hiding in
[19:47] * Nelius Raoul and his forces move in. Nelius and Zotia take to the skies to rain down magical hell upon the Monolith forces. Meanwhile, Janice and GR team up to use icy shellings against the enemy. Anesha gets to work on manipulating the local plantlife to aid them, whilst Monica prepares to zip in and show off her patented kicks, the kinds said to instantly turn a victim's bones into dust.

[19:49] *** Nelius and Zotia, from your position in the skies you can see something approaching from the northeast - TWO Mi-24 Hind gunship helicopters!
[19:49] <Nelius Raoul> ♦ Got two Hinds inbound.
[19:49] * Capt. David O`Cain fires a Hellhound 40mm grenade at a building of Monolith troops from the M203

[19:49] * Zotia swoops down to grab Catri and help get her elevated.

[19:53] *** Zotia, there's a couple of steady places you could bring Catriona - the top of a covered bridge that spans across the street and connects two different buildings, or the top of the administrative building (which is a good six stories high).

[19:54] <Zotia> Hm... would the bridge work for you, Catri?
[19:55] <Chibi-Catri> Should be good for me!
[19:55] * Chibi-AnTil and Chibi-Alex are both trying to coordinate with the Moon-Rabbits.
[19:57] *** EVERYONE...that bridge gives some fair cover and a decent elevated position over the street. A few Moon-Rabbits up in there with heavy weapons might help push back the Monolith forces.
[19:57] * Zotia nods, and quickly flies over to that bridge. Just indicate where you want Catri set, and it shall be done.
[19:57] * Megan O`Cain keeps firing her rifle as David aims again with another Hellhound grenade ready
[19:58] * Chibi-Catri points down at the roof, right where it connects with the wall of a laboratory building.
[19:59] * Zotia nods in affirmation, and touches down there.
[19:59] *** The Hind helicopters are steadily approaching. No one's heard them over the sounds of the battle yet though.
[20:00] * Janice and GR aim their bows up high, and with a release send out modified arrows. When these ones hit, an arctic chill will sweep over the enemy...... followed by a kaboom that even Megumin would be proud of!
[20:01] <Nelius Raoul> (Don't think they heard me about the Hinds.... shame I can't tell from this distance if they're enemies or not.)

[20:02] * Capt. David O`Cain fires another Hellhound grenade at the building of Monolith troops he and Megan are firing at
[20:02] *** The Monolith forces retreat back further down the street, taking up new positions at a junction in the street where it turns south and leads to the inner section of the Plant. The main part of the Jupiter Plant is taken up by a single massive two-story building that looks like a huge warehouse.
[20:03] * Anesha works her ability to communicate with and utilize plantlife, in order to get a better idea of what areas would be best to strike at. Monica, in the meanwhile, is a blonde blur of fur and fury! Methinks those Soliders are going to be in traction for..... pretty much ever!
[20:03] *** Armored Girl...you quickly and effectively stabilize almost ALL of the wounded Moon-Rabbits. All of them will make fully recoveries eventually, and several of them are healed quickly enough that they'll be able to re-enter this battle.
[20:05] *** Anesha, you're able to quickly determine where ALL of the Monolith forces are! Still, communicating with the plant-life here is...unnerving. Like biting aluminum foil. All of the plants in the Zone have been tainted and polluted.
[20:06] *** Nelius, if those helicopters are coming from the northeast, that means they came from either Pripyat or the Chernobyl NPP. Almost certainly Monolith!

[20:12] * Chibi-Catri shoots a Monolith soldier right in the head as he pulls the pin on a grenade, dropping him AND the now-armed grenade! It explodes a few seconds later, taking out several other nearby Monolith!
[20:13] *** Monica SMASHES like the Hulk in the "Avengers" movie! You even take the time to grab one particularly-annoying Monolith soldier that tried to shoot at Sylvester!

[20:16] *** David, you and Megan concentrate fire on the Ratniks. Their ballistic shields are absorbing a HUGE amount of damage, but they're both forced to halt their advance and even fall back a step or two.
[20:17] *** Nelius, the Hinds are on final approach, rising up over the walls and slowly moving into position to strafe the whole length of the street with their chainguns.
[20:18] * Capt. David O`Cain and Megan put away their rifles, and switch to their arm cannons to fire at the Ratniks
[20:18] * Chibi-Sylvester , Chibi-Alex, and Fiona are in the fight too, doing their part to take down the Monolith soldiers.
[20:20] * Nelius Raoul has his gun loaded, and so fires at the mechanisms keeping the Hinds aloft -- more specifically, their propellers. Time to give these fools a taste of Netherworld Tech!
[20:20] * Zotia collabs with Anesha to pick off stragglers here and there.

[20:27] *** The second attack deflects off of the reinforced underside armor of the other Hind. It's still in the fight.

[20:28] * Sheila Marksvov rushes into the center of the street to get a clear shot at the other Hind.
[20:29] * The Ratniks see Sheila and her assistant and prepare to take aim at them both!
[20:29] * Janice and GR decide to let the Ratniks have a taste of the Frozen Megumin Special! Time for them to chill out permanently.

[20:34] * Capt. David O`Cain isn't using the grenade launcher. He and Megan have armed their arm cannons to fire at the Ratniks.

[20:40] *** The Ratniks are both forced to drop to their knees, struggling to keep their balance as their shields are barely holding up against the barrage of fire they're absorbing.
[20:41] *** They're also covered in an icy rime, but they seem to be managing to stay in the fight. The environmental systems of their suits seems to be fairly durable.
[20:42] *** The last Hind gunship prepares to fire!

[20:43] * Nelius Raoul takes aim at the Hind and fires! He'll either tear a hole through it with this new ammo, or at least rip off its propellers!

[21:06] <Megan O`Cain> Hmm. Given the situation, perhaps it's best we stay and resupply. We ought to be fresh for the next advance.
[21:06] <Capt. David O`Cain> That, and the LAC could use a few more hands in their recovery.
[21:07] <Chibi-AnTil> There's a road that leads directly into the outskirts of Pripyat from here, but that area's been heavily fortified by Monolith.
[21:07] <Nelius Raoul> Good idea. I'm betting that with this area secured, Morimoto's going to be even more livid than a Baciel denied its drink.
[21:08] <Capt. David O`Cain> Baciel?
[21:09] <Chibi-AnTil> We can either let them resupply, but that would take time and give Monolith an opportunity to retaliate. But if we send in the LAC to attack, that might draw away Monolith forces from the Underpass and give us a chance to get through with fewer problems.
[21:09] <Chibi-AnTil> Plus it might keep them reeling.

[21:42] * MR reaches back through the rift, and withdraws a crate. "I believe these should help --- food, ammo, armor, and a little something of our own design."
[21:42] *** The Moon-Rabbits quickly begin gathering up and redistributing all of the supplies that have been delivered so far. They especially need ammunition and replacement armor.

[18:08] *** Meanwhile, inside the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone...
[18:09] * Chibi-Alex observes and smiles as the Moon-Rabbits get organized more and more. The whole Jupiter Plant has been abuzz with activity for a full day now, and the resupply has gone better than expected.
[18:11] * Nelius Raoul and his people have been convening, mostly laying out plans and such for the coming attack. At the same time, Nelius is getting in touch with Thirza and everyone back home, mostly to check on things and ensure all has been well.
[18:12] * Chibi-Alex is watching from the upper story of the main admin building. Looking down into the entry courtyard and the primary avenue leading into the Plant from the main entrance, there are numerous UAZ jeeps that have been reclaimed from the Zone that are now undergoing repairs and restoration. Say what you want about Soviet vehicle construction, but these things are remarkably easy to restore.
[18:14] * GR and MR are putting a few things of their own together as well.
[18:17] * Fiona pops up next to Alex, along with Zone-Fox.

[18:22] <Fiona> The vehicle restoration is going well. We've now got eight jeeps, four trucks, and a total of ten BTR-80 APCs. The Moon-Rabbits are working on adding some improvised armor to the trucks and jeeps right now. It won't be much though. The steel plate available here in the Zone is terrible,
[18:24] <Chibi-Alex> Crappy selection?
[18:26] <Fiona> More like the corrosive environment. You must have noticed it by now. This place is awful on everything manufactured. Things just suffer from wear and tear far more than they should. Look what happened to the gauss carbine we had. The mag-rails shorted out in a way they shouldn't have.
[18:28] <GR>“ No doubt it's due to all this radiation, and whatever else has been going on here.”
[18:29] <Fiona> The metal plates the Moon-Rabbits are using for applique armor aren't that old. They were inside a sealed container here in the main warehouse building, and looking at them they ARE sheets and plates of Rolled Homogeneous Armor-grade.
[18:30] <Fiona> But they've all lost tensile strength. Like they were exposed to salt water corrosion or something.
[18:30] <Chibi-Alex> Are they still good for armor?
[18:31] <Fiona> Yeah. It just won't be as effective as it should be. The Moon-Rabbits know about it, but they're still going ahead with it.
[18:34] *** Down below, you can all see some Moon-Rabbits using blowtorches and welders to cut and affix sheets of 1/4" steel plate to the sides, front, and rear of the UAZs. The windshields are being replaced with angled steel plates with narrow vision slits, there aren't any tops, and all of the jeeps are being fitted with pintle-mounted machine guns OR RPGs.
[18:35] <MR>“ Quite the interesting construction layout they're using.”
[18:40] <Fiona> They're improvising as best they can.
[18:40] <Chibi-Alex> I hope AnTil gets back here soon.
[18:45] <Chibi-Alex> He left with one of the supply groups back to Limansk early this morning.
[18:50] *** Elsewhere, Catriona is on the walls with the other spotters, Sylvester is foraging for Artifacts with Sheila, and Gwen is helping with the injured.

[18:54] * Fiona smiles and adjusts her glasses. "Good!"
[19:05] <Fiona> Last I heard, they've actually gotten those old tanks functional!
[19:05] <Fiona> They're only T-62s though.
[19:13] <Chibi-Alex> I don't think I'm familiar with those. ^__^;

[19:18] <Fiona> The T-62 is an older model of Soviet tank from the 1960s. They're woefully obsolete by Current Year's standards, but are still used by some reserve units and other countries like China and North Korea.
[19:24] <Fiona> In fact, the most recent model of the T-62 design came out in 1989 with the T-62MV-1 which featured improved engines, better materials for the armor, and better cannon-launched AT missiles.
[19:25] <Fiona> They were still pretty bad compared to modern Western tanks, but they were cheap and easy to produce, which made them great for the Soviet's reservist units.
[19:27] <Fiona> The Chinese and North Koreans use a lot of locally-made versions of the design in their own military forces too.
[19:28] <Chibi-Alex> I don't even know what HALF of that meant. Are they any good for us?
[19:28] <Fiona> ^__^;;
[19:43] <Chibi-Alex> MR? How are you doing?
[19:43] <Capt. David O`Cain> Depends on who uses them. If we have them, good for us. If Monolith does, that's no bueno. That sum it up for you, Alex?

[19:52] * Capt. David O`Cain nods while Megan is checking over supplies
[19:53] <Chibi-Alex> How is the Red Forest looking?
[19:55] * Armored Woman sits away from the others, checking over her own gear
[19:57] *** The supply situation looks reasonably good. Food is sufficient; not great, but there's enough to go around for everyone if no one gets gluttonous.
[19:57] <MR>“ Right now, it's going a bit slowly.”
[19:58] *** Ammunition is better, and there's enough fuel for the vehicles for them all to travel for at least a day or two.
[20:00] *** For life inside the Zone, having enough fuel, ammunition, spare parts, and supplies for the next few days is pretty much as good as it gets. The logistical situation here would be almost unheard of back in the MKA. The Moon-Rabbits are literally operating on a shoestring budget supplemented by scavenging in what amounts to a post-apocalyptic economy.
[20:01] <Megan O`Cain> Supplies seem to be pretty good. Got plenty of ammo, enough fuel for the vehicles to go for at most two days worth, and food will be fine as long we don't eat too much.
[20:05] * Armored Woman adjusts her gauntlet
[20:07] <Chibi-Alex> That's not a bad thing.
[20:08] <Megan O`Cain> Nope. Then again, I haven't seen this within the MKA, MKM, and MKN.
[20:09] <Fiona> We did manage to salvage some of the weapons and ammo from those crashed Hinds, so that puts us all in a slightly better position. Both of those helicopters were in very good condition construction-wise. From what I could tell, neither of them had any serious signs of deterioration.
[20:10] <Megan O`Cain> Interesting.
[20:17] <Fiona> So they were either very well maintained or recently brought into the Zone.
[20:19] <Megan O`Cain> Hmm.
[20:21] <Fiona> So...where the heck is Monolith getting all of this stuff?
[20:24] <Megan O`Cain> If I were to venture a guess, an outside source is my best guess. My prediction? Whatever's left of the Alliance seeing that Leona's running things.
[20:31] <Chibi-Alex> But not one's seen any shipments coming into the Zone like that. The Anomalies make aerial transport really tough to do.
[20:32] <Chibi-Alex> And lots of ground transports would attract bandits and other Stalkers like Catriona to S'mores.
[20:34] <MR>“ Mayhaps they have an underground supply network? It would allow them to bypass both the anomalies and the Stalkers.”
[20:36] <Megan O`Cain> That's a possibility.
[20:36] <Chibi-Alex> Who knows. If they really ARE Alliance survivors, maybe they brought a nano-forge with them?
[20:37] <Megan O`Cain> Really?
[20:38] <Fiona> THAT would be concerning.
[20:39] <Capt. David O`Cain> How would they have gotten it here in the first place?
[20:42] <Fiona> If they brought it here on a foundry ship.
[20:43] <Fiona> Or maybe one of their Phoenix-class baseships survived?
[20:47] <Fiona> I know from my voidship training that all of the Alliance's mobile carrier-bases incorporated nano-factories that enabled them to produce munitions and pre-fabricated structures really quickly.
[20:53] * Random Moon-Rabbit rushes into the room!

[20:54] <Random Moon-Rabbit> Movement! The scouts have detected movement!

[20:58] <Random Moon-Rabbit> From Pripyat! We've been seeing lots and lots of people moving and heard what sounds like a lot of heavy engine noise coming from deeper within the urban area and getting louder.

[21:03] <Random Moon-Rabbit> Lots of infantry for sure. We can't tell exactly what kind of vehicles are coming, but we can make out the noise of high-power turbine engines. The kind tanks normally have.
