So great is this shame that only a chosen few in the Chapter itself know exactly what happened in those most dark and terrible days of the Horus Heresy as a matter of fact it has been ten thousand years since Luthor, most trusted friend of the Dark Angels Primarch Lion El’Jonson, had betrayed his chapter along with the other Dark Angels under his command… However after the Dark Angels home planet of Caliban was nearly destroyed, when the Dark Angels’ most grave battle was nearly ended, it is said that in the final climax, as the combat fought between that of the Primarch himself and Luthor was coming to a close that Luthor, powered by the gifts given to him by the chaos gods unleashed a crippling psychic attack which knocked the great Primarch to his knees and left him mortally wounded, and so just as Luthor was about to give the final blow he hesitated. Somehow he realised his great betrayal. Of his friend, of his Chapter, and of the Emperor himself. Unable to contain his great shame Luthor lost his sanity and so he fell down beside his Primarch unwilling to fight. Realising that once again they had lost the Chaos gods ripped a tear into the very fabric of space and so a warp storm appeared, engulfing Caliban and pulling all of the "fallen" angels into the warp and scattering them across the galaxy. As for Luthor he is still alive, contained in a stasis field by the Dark Angels forever to be interrogated for his great sin. Time in that of the warp and real space progresses differently, and so the Dark Angels which first followed Luthor into Betrayal are still alive to this day. Though some of the Fallen have indeed been turned into fully fledged Chaos Marines. There are still those who have realised what they have done and so they try to repent for their actions, hunted by their own chapter, some have re-integrated themselves back into human society, usually becoming outcasts while some have banded together to form extremely rare small fighting forces. [03:53] <@Shinji Ikari> ♦ back in 1986, after COIE, DC did a reset of Superman called Man of Steel. in that revamped history, Superman was never Superboy. he was the only Kryptonian -- no Supergirl. i can't quite remember, but i don't even think there was a Krypto. he was somewhat of a stud athlete in Smallville, and was shown as a more competent Clark Kent when he finally arrived in Metropolis, while decreasing Superman's power levels by an appreciable degree.

[03:53] <@Shinji Ikari> ♦ i won't go into it because it would either piss me off or make my head hurt, but let's just say that, until the Lightning Saga of six months or so ago returned the original-in-spirit Legion, the ripple effect jacked up the Legion for TWENTY YEARS.
[03:53] <@Shinji Ikari> ♦ depending on how you look at it, it easily rivals OMD for impact. but the reason that it's not the same, execution-wise, was that DC had literally come out of Crisis on Infinite Earths with a new earth, so things could be different.
[03:54] <@Shinji Ikari> Agree or disagree with that guy, I can't help but to think that on the subject of the Legion, he's correct.
[03:54] <@Furu> Yeah, a retcon like that is better and more acceptable than "nobody knows what counts anymore"
[03:54] <@Shinji Ikari> Man of Steel created a situation that, in some ways, the Legion of Super-Heroes never really recovered from until just recent.

[03:57] <@Shinji Ikari> At leas with MOS, they had their hearts in the right place as well. They wanted a Superman simplified for a younger generation. It wasn't some EIC that wanted to enforce his personal views and issues onto the readers.
[03:58] <@Shinji Ikari> On the former, I still think stretching out the length of Crisis (initially supposed to be 10 issues) and ultimately changing the end result (a TOTAL reboot, not a partial like it ended up being) was a mistake. But wasn't nothing like OMD.
