[07:36] <FireFly_9> A company offering mobile phones to students has hired Professor John Sutherland, professor emeritus of English Literature at University College London, to offer subscribers text message summaries and quotes from literary classics.
[07:36] <FireFly_9> Hamlet's "To be or not to be" soliloquy is rendered: "2B? NT2B?=???". At the end of Romeo and Juliet, "bothLuvrs kill Emselves," while Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice concludes when "Evry1GtsMaryd."

I'd recommend bludgeoning them all with dictionaries and emailing them Spellcheck Virusus.

I would love to wage war, I'm just not sure how to proceed...

Kryten [e-mail] • 11/17/05 09:51pm

I can just hear the grammar nazis preparing to wage war now.

Solarchos [e-mail] • 11/17/05 05:36pm

Well, this just goes to show that Mr. Webster was a fad after all. Now the question becomes, is it grammatically correct to ask 2B/!=2B?

And that is why the internet shall slowly cause death to the world.

But of course, at my school, we get cell phones taken away anyways for no good reason! ><

Kurisutaru Blacklight [e-mail] • 11/17/05 12:30pm

I said it there, and I'll say it here:

The end of the English language is nigh!
First the Internet with IM and chatrooms and now text messaging on cell phones.
The next generation of children are barely going to know how to spell...

Fashionable Feline [e-mail] • 11/17/05 12:30pm

and now they will have to completely ban cell phones from classrooms to prevent cheating, and blue books will have things like 'B4 & ftr' all over their pages, and professors will have to allow it because the idea is clear.
