[22:39] *** FireFly_9 [ruin@ntt1.docomo.jp] has joined #suburbansenshi
[22:39] <@spiritflame> Irasshai FireFly_9
[22:39] <@S.X. Aino> Hiyas Hotaru-P
[22:39] <FireFly_9> I was just looking outside
[22:40] <@S.X. Aino> Oh yeahs?
[22:40] <FireFly_9> The typhoon is passing to south of us, and the wind wasn't so bad, so I thought I would open the door and look outside.
[22:41] * @S.X. Aino nods
[22:41] <@S.X. Aino> I kinda took a peep outside myself XD
[22:42] <FireFly_9> The night was dark, the grey clouds hanging low against the sky.
[22:42] <FireFly_9> The wind was steady, and gusted at times.
[22:43] <FireFly_9> Not a soul was outside. It was quiet, serene... yet...
[22:43] <@S.X. Aino> You stood at the edge of a great turbulence, of a precipice that could have consumed you.
[22:43] <FireFly_9> Indeed...
[22:44] <FireFly_9> Small, insignifigant against nature. Feeling a wet sea breeze that spun in from the ocean...
[22:45] <FireFly_9> And knowing that just a few miles away, the maelstrom churned, its a dark storm whose fury churned across the land.
[22:45] <@S.X. Aino> you touched the hem of its garment.
[22:45] <FireFly_9> And I was awed by it.
[22:46] <@S.X. Aino> It's still crossing Tokyo tomorrow. But we'll be safe :)
[22:46] <@S.X. Aino> Probably won't even lose power :)
[22:46] <FireFly_9> Power...
[22:47] <FireFly_9> Sakura-chan, when you look up, into that black night, when you feel that rush of wet wind against your skin...
[22:48] <FireFly_9> You realize that the power of man, even at its apex, is as nothing compared to the workings of this Earth.
[22:49] <@S.X. Aino> We're just ants on an anthill built upon a mote floating in a void of unfathomable magnitude, Harry-P. Even that storm, as mighty as it is, is nothing against even the smallest coronal outburst from a star....
[22:50] <@S.X. Aino> Ddi you know a huge solar flare spat out from the sun yesterday?
[22:50] <FireFly_9> No. I was too concerned with what was before me.
[22:52] <@S.X. Aino> Heh, the point is there are forces out there that will buffet us about in ways we can't even understand until they hit us in the face :)
[22:52] <FireFly_9> Sakura-chan, you're too mechanistic...
[22:53] <FireFly_9> I looked up into the storm's edge... I could feel it. The magnitude of it, pressing against me... raw force.
[23:00] <FireFly_9> It is not often one gets to touch such energy....
[23:01] <FireFly_9> ...its reach transcends anything words can properly convey.
[23:02] <@S.X. Aino> Maybe you shouldn't try, Hotaru-P. To reduce such things to words, to boil them down into something simple and understandable by the mind as opposed to the spirit... robs it of what makes it so special in the first place.
[23:02] <@S.X. Aino> Even with all my science, I believe that.
[23:02] * FireFly_9 nods.
[23:03] <FireFly_9> Goodnight, Sakura-chan.
[23:03] <@S.X. Aino> gnight
[23:03] *** FireFly_9 [ruin@ntt1.docomo.jp] has quit IRC (The Sound of Silence is Truly deafening.)
[23:04] <@S.X. Aino> And tonight of all nights that /part message has never been more true.

MOST OF THE AREA WILL BE UNINHABITABLE FOR WEEKS...PERHAPS LONGER. AT
LEAST ONE HALF OF WELL CONSTRUCTED HOMES WILL HAVE ROOF AND WALL
FAILURE. ALL GABLED ROOFS WILL FAIL...LEAVING THOSE HOMES SEVERELY
DAMAGED OR DESTROYED.

THE MAJORITY OF INDUSTRIAL BUILDINGS WILL BECOME NON FUNCTIONAL.
PARTIAL TO COMPLETE WALL AND ROOF FAILURE IS EXPECTED. ALL WOOD
FRAMED LOW RISING APARTMENT BUILDINGS WILL BE DESTROYED. CONCRETE
BLOCK LOW RISE APARTMENTS WILL SUSTAIN MAJOR DAMAGE...INCLUDING SOME
WALL AND ROOF FAILURE.

HIGH RISE OFFICE AND APARTMENT BUILDINGS WILL SWAY DANGEROUSLY...A
FEW TO THE POINT OF TOTAL COLLAPSE. ALL WINDOWS WILL BLOW OUT.

AIRBORNE DEBRIS WILL BE WIDESPREAD...AND MAY INCLUDE HEAVY ITEMS SUCH
AS HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCES AND EVEN LIGHT VEHICLES. SPORT UTILITY
VEHICLES AND LIGHT TRUCKS WILL BE MOVED. THE BLOWN DEBRIS WILL CREATE

This could be the worst natural disaster to ever hit the United States. Hopefully New Orleans will dodge a bullet here, but it's not looking good.

Jack Flagg • 08/28/05 03:15pm

New Orleans is gonna DIE

Moonstar • 08/28/05 12:45pm

Duo, that's what I was going to say. Precisely, in fact, less only the capital 'D' >.>

"To reduce such things to words, to boil them down into something simple and understandable by the mind as opposed to the spirit... robs it of what makes it so special in the first place.
Even with all my science, I believe that."
Absolutely *nods*

Sailor Mewtwo [e-mail] • 08/26/05 02:19pm

You can say that again, Duo. I really hope everything ends up all right.

Mew [e-mail] • 08/26/05 08:06am

Wow, that was Deep.
