Solar: 1) That's why Saddam picked it for a site. It's not actually IN Babylon, but just outside of it. 2) No. The airstrip area had to be monitored in case some people tried to still use it. It's not a matter of choosing it because it's there.

BTL - the ruins of Babylon were selected as a base site for two reasons. 1. ) Because it was of historical significance which would reduce the likelihood of an attack, and 2. ) Because it was just *there*.

Solarchos [e-mail] • 01/16/05 05:37pm

Apparently, the military base near Babylon was set up because Saddam had an air strip near there. He thought it would cut down on bombings and such because the US "plays by the rules", as it were.

Kakyuu: In Team America: World Police, the head of the Sphinx WAS blown off.

starcat [e-mail] • 01/16/05 02:03am

Poor Minako-chan. Go kick some ass.

Mango-chan [e-mail] • 01/15/05 09:19pm

Of course, *why* there's an army base in Babylon in the first place, when there are so many other sites around Baghdad that could be used, is a question that will never be answered. :( My sympathies, Minako.

Between_the_Lines • 01/15/05 07:38pm

I sympathize with Minako here... I hope whomever is responsible for the damage pays for what they've done.

Chris J. • 01/15/05 06:19pm

I think Minako's going to want to pimp-smack the crap out of someone for ruining *her* city like that.

Prof. Tomoe and Jedite might want to look how an evil genius markets himself: http://worlddominationtoys.com/

For Artemis, maybe you can get Haruka to tap Luna with the flat side of Minako's sword. Afterall, Mina's sword was shown to be capable of disrupting the G-crystal's powers. Just have a tub of lotion for the aftereffects. A small tub of herb scented hot water might help too.

OMFG! I can't believe it! I mean, damage to any historical monument no matter how small is bad!!!!! I mean, if someone were to blow the head off of the Sphinx the whole world would be extremely ticked!!!!! Or if someone was to try breaking a piece off of the "dream" stela infront of the Sphinx it'd still be terrible! No one has any respect for history.

((The Sphinx was only used as an example!))

Kakyuu Kou [e-mail] • 01/15/05 03:55pm

If you read the entire article, it says that the damage was to ten brick inlays, so that's not too bad. Right?

ANY damage is bad to such a historical monument...

starcat [e-mail] • 01/15/05 12:54pm

I think so, Ying. I think Ishtar was also a Venus-equivalent Goddess, hence Minako's Moh!-ness

Sailor Mewtwo [e-mail] • 01/15/05 11:21am

Poor Minako-Momma T_T

GuyWhoPlaysNakoNako • 01/15/05 10:18am

Wasn't Ishtar Venus' counterpart Opposito senshi from Sailor Moon: Another Story?

YingGirl [e-mail] • 01/15/05 10:14am

Man, that's a f[BLEEP]ing shame... You can't get that stuff back, y'know ;_;
