[11:49] <@Dr_Xadium> Do you know, Minako, I've discovered something of great importance.
[11:49] <C'est_la_V> What's that??
[11:49] <@Dr_Xadium> Mountain Dew Pitch Black tastes like Robitussin.
[11:49] <FireFly_9> Robitussin?
[11:50] <GERMATOID> A COUGH SYRUP
[11:50] <C'est_la_V> In a good way or a bad way??
[11:50] <@Dr_Xadium> What's the good way?
[11:50] <C'est_la_V> NyQuil makes you dizzy.
[11:51] <@Dr_Xadium> Well this is in a bad way, as it has a rather nasty quasi-grape aftertaste.
[11:52] * FireFly_9 has noticed Xadium buying various flavours of soft drink lately.
[11:52] <@Dr_Xadium> Yes, well, like you, Hotaru, I choose not to imbibe alcoholic beverages.
[11:52] <C'est_la_V> X-chan has been drowning his sparrows in Soda.
[11:53] <FireFly_9> "Sorrows", and what sorrows might you have, Xadium-san?
[11:53] * @Dr_Xadium is almost 1000 years old.
[11:53] <FireFly_9> Some sort of Mid-life crisis?
[11:54] <@Dr_Xadium> Something like that.
[11:54] <// J_Daito //> HAHAHAHAHAHAHA You're old.
[11:54] <@Dr_Xadium> Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't you about 10,000 years old?
[11:55] <// J_Daito //> I spent most of that time asleep, fool.
[11:55] <FireFly_9> Much like how Haruka-poppa spends her life.
[11:56] * GERMATOID FOUND SOMETHING NEAT (DEPENDING ON YOUR POINT OF VIEW) ON THE INTERNET
[11:56] <@Dr_Xadium> Something neat on the internet; I'd never have imagined.
[11:56] <C'est_la_V> X-chan is sarcastic in his old age. :P
[11:57] <GERMATOID> --> http://www.iris.edu/seismon/
[11:58] <GERMATOID> THIS GIVES YOU NEAR-REALTIME EARHQUAKE INFORMATION
[11:58] <@Dr_Xadium> Hmm... if you click on a portion of the map, it will zoom in, and from there you can click on the relevant quake.
[12:00] <@Dr_Xadium> Well I found something too... the most irritating Choose-Your-Own-Adventure book I had ever read (and I read many in my youth, believe me)
[12:00] <@Dr_Xadium> --> http://www.gamebooks.org/show_item.php?id=554
[12:01] <@Dr_Xadium> That one had a special place you had to get to, but not by following any directions in the book.
[12:01] <FireFly_9> Did you ever find it?
[12:01] <@Dr_Xadium> I did, actually.
[12:01] <C'est_la_V> How??
[12:02] <@Dr_Xadium> I leafed through every page in the book to make sure it was there, and not just some unsubtantiated plot device.
[12:02] <C'est_la_V> It says the secret page was 110...
[12:03] <@Dr_Xadium> Correct. I plowed through 110 pages to find the useless thing, which basiclaly amounted to "CONGRATULATIONS - YOU GOT TO THE PLACE YOU COULD NOT GET TO BY FOLLOWING NO DIRECTIONS."
[12:03] <// J_Daito //> Bah they could have at least made you a pagan god.
[12:03] <@spiritflame> am currently reading this --> http://www.csuchico.edu/~georgew/tsa/Kami_no_Michi_ToC.html
[12:04] <@Dr_Xadium> Fascinating.
[12:05] <FireFly_9> A "Choose your own Adventure" with all of us might be interesting.
[12:05] <@Dr_Xadium> Yes, it would. I've attempted something like that once before, in a different venue.
[12:05] <FireFly_9> Oh?
[12:06] <@Dr_Xadium> My DOS game was ported to HTML, it was very rudimentary. --> http://www.bonkers-online.de/bonkersgame/index.html
[12:06] <@Dr_Xadium> The reason I don't do it now is because the plotting would be somewhat complicated.
[12:07] <C'est_la_V> How complicated could it be??
[12:11] <@Dr_Xadium> Logic map for one of the books. --> http://www.ethblue.com/cyoa/index.html
[12:11] * C'est_la_V is dizzy.
[12:12] * FireFly_9 has found something good as well.
[12:13] <FireFly_9> Ever since Xadium-san started watching _Sakura Taisen_, which is set in the early 20th Century of Japan, I've been doing some digging, and I present this:
[12:13] <FireFly_9> --> http://www.oldtokyo.com/
[12:13] <// J_Daito //> What is that, a retirement home for wizened Japanese?
[12:14] <FireFly_9> A pictorical collection of images from turn-of-the-century Tokyo.
[12:17] <C'est_la_V> OMG I used to live not too far from there!! --> http://www.oldtokyo.com/postcards/blossoms/shiba-blossoms650.jpg
[12:17] <FireFly_9> Sempai... imagine it... that was your hometown 100 years ago... literally.
[12:23] <C'est_la_V> Wow...
[12:24] * C'est_la_V hears something that makes her blood freeze
[12:24] <// J_Daito //> It sounds like someone's killing your cat.
[12:24] <FireFly_9> ¨_¨; That's not killing.
[12:25] * C'est_la_V shudders -- Chibiusa-chan is at it again.
[12:25] <// J_Daito //> How long is she going to keep him high on catnip?
[12:25] <FireFly_9> Sempai, you have to rescue him... from that fate worse than death.
[12:26] <C'est_la_V> You don't understand... I care about Artemis...
[12:26] <FireFly_9> And that's why you should save him!
[12:26] <C'est_la_V> If I *save* him, he'll become sober again...
[12:26] <FireFly_9> And...?
[12:26] <GERMATOID> AND THEN HE'LL REMEMBER JUST WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM
[12:27] <FireFly_9> Oh.
[12:27] <@Dr_Xadium> That poor fellow has been cheated on, is almost divorced, and is now bigamously married to the most perverse member of the Lunar Royal family in recorded history.
[12:28] <C'est_la_V> So I don't know what to do....
[12:28] <FireFly_9> We can't leave him like that. The... sounds... the unholy sounds!
[12:28] <C'est_la_V> ><
[12:29] <// J_Daito //> What you people need is someone who doesn't give a damn about that cat's feelings. Like me.
[12:29] <C'est_la_V> No, Jedite!
[12:29] * // J_Daito // vanishes in a haze of cool CGI
[12:29] <C'est_la_V> WAIT!
[12:30] <FireFly_9> And... now the screams of horrible realization have begun.
[12:30] <C'est_la_V> And Chibiusa-chan seems to be enjoying herself *more*.
[12:30] <GERMATOID> THAT'S ONE WAY TO SPICE THINGS UP, I BET
[12:30] <FireFly_9> Papa.
[12:30] <GERMATOID> WHAAAAT
[12:31] *** C'est_la_V [GldnGoddess@ip6942.ai.co.jp] has quit IRC (gotta take care of Artemis!)
[12:31] * // J_Daito // is back
[12:31] <// J_Daito //> Heh, I took care of the problem.
[12:32] <@Dr_Xadium> Oh, you took care of it, all right. The feline screams of raw terror attest to that. What's next, are you going to twist the heads off babies or something? Or maybe step on some rabbits, mashing their brains into pulp?
[12:32] <// J_Daito //> What excellent ideas you have, Time Lord.
[12:33] *** // J_Daito // [Jed@dialup666.darkkingdom.co.jp] has quit IRC (Off to Buy a rabbit... for Pets and Meat.)
[12:33] <@Dr_Xadium> Ugh.
[12:33] <FireFly_9> Xadium-san... Artemis... will be even more traumatized that before, you know.
[12:34] <@Dr_Xadium> I know. Tch.
[12:46] <FireFly_9> That poor, poor cat.
[12:46] * @Dr_Xadium doesn't know what we can do for him.
[12:47] * @Dr_Xadium will have a talk with Minako.
[12:50] <FireFly_9> I just hope we can salvage him.

Moonstar • 01/04/05 08:34pm

i found pitch black to taste like grape soda mixed with the aftertaste of halloween candy

supersportdbz [e-mail] • 01/04/05 12:40pm

I read that particular book too. I remember that 90% of the time you'd end up dying at the hands of a laser beam or some other alien's digestive system.

Lister of Smeg [e-mail] • 01/04/05 11:20am

Aah, Choose Your Own Adventure Books. I used to be quite obsessed with those a few years back, especially the ones from the Goosebumps series. I eventually got tired of them because of my strange obsession with reading through the books straight-through, thus ruining everything.

Yeah. Iím weird like that.

Furu [e-mail] • 01/04/05 10:43am

It's his fault he thought marrying Chibi might piss Luna. But it only tramitizes him and Luna's pissed that Artemis is with a child. Suck it. bitch.

YingGirl [e-mail] • 01/03/05 05:22pm

That poor, poor cat. I can not agree more, Hotaru.
