#167: “Our best wishes to Kurt Angle”

*** Now talking in #suburbansenshi
*** Topic is '-= =-' .
<--=[ SpeedRcrX ]=--> Kurt Angle, the WWE Champion, whose previously broken neck has has begun to give him trouble due to the wear and tear of years of constant wrestling competition, may wrestle his last match at Wrestlemania.
<--=[ SpeedRcrX ]=-->
<--=[ SpeedRcrX ]=--> Apparently, the surgery he needs to repair his neck (vertebrae Fusion), if it requires more than two vertebrae to be fused, will result in Angle's being unable to ever wrestle again. So Angle is facing what could be the end of his professional career.
<--=[ SpeedRcrX ]=-->
<--=[ SpeedRcrX ]=--> Knowing this, Angle has decided to not get the corrective surgery, but instead wrestle the big match at Wrestlemania 19 with Brock Lesnar for the title. Now, knowing the work ethic of Angle, it's unlikely he will take it easy on himself, wanting to give the fans, who have waited for this dream match of Olympic / NCAA champion Angle vs. NCAA champion Lesnar, the most for their money.
<--=[ SpeedRcrX ]=-->
<--=[ SpeedRcrX ]=--> The risks will be enormous- if anything goes wrong with his neck, Angle would be paralyzed or worse in that ring before the night is out-- yet he's still going ahead with it.
<--=[ SpeedRcrX ]=-->
<--=[ SpeedRcrX ]=--> While this is the hallmark of a true professional Athlete, it's still, in the opinion of Suburban Senshi management, an incredibly insane thing to do, what with a young child waiting at home. No one here would ever think to downplay the phenomenal skill or professionalism of Angle, who's given of himself for the business more times that anyone can count, and whose determination to succeed allowed him to win the Gold Medal for wrestling in the 1996 Olympics despite having a broken neck.
<--=[ SpeedRcrX ]=-->
<--=[ SpeedRcrX ]=--> Some people say he's doing it for the money-- the $350,000 paycheck that comes with headlining the main event at WrestlMania- but we don't think so. Angle's one of the top tier WWE superstars-- he's probably got enough money to provide for his family well enough. We think he's doing it out of dedication to the business and the fans, and as a challenge to himself.
<--=[ SpeedRcrX ]=-->
<--=[ SpeedRcrX ]=--> Kurt, as much as we love to see you perform, we would love it even more to see you healthy and well. Sure, it would suck to not see Angle vs. Lesnar, and the display of true technical wrestling the two of you could deliver in an age that's overrun with fast, flashy one-shot moves and silly gimmickry. But it would suck even more to see you end up a shell of your former self because you had to have that one last match with Lesnar.
<--=[ SpeedRcrX ]=-->
<--=[ SpeedRcrX ]=--> At any rate, you've made your decision, choosing to go forward when no one would have faulted you for backing out. Now your job is to keep yourself safe in that ring come Wrestlemania and come back to us safe and sound. So good luck Kurt, and be careful out there.
