[08:45] <[gTV]Karasuma_Akane> So this is what we know about Chris Benoit so far:
[08:47] <[gTV]Karasuma_Akane> Benoit's 43-year-old wife was killed Friday in a family room, her feet and wrists were bound and there was blood under her head, indicating a possible struggle. Daniel Benoit was probably killed late Saturday or early Sunday, and was found in his bed, according to the District Attorney.
[08:47] <[gTV]Karasuma_Akane> Chris Benoit, 40, apparently hanged himself several hours to as long as a day later. His body was found in a weight room, his body found hanging from the pulley of a piece of exercise equipment.
[08:49] <[gTV]Karasuma_Akane> A closed Bible was placed next to the bodies of the wife and son.
[08:49] <[gTV]Karasuma_Akane> WWE said on its Web site that it asked police to check on Benoit and his family after being alerted by friends who had received "several curious text messages sent by Benoit early Sunday morning.
[08:49] <[gTV]Karasuma_Akane> WWE Chairman Vince McMahon made the following statement yesterday just prior to the ECW Broadcast:
[08:50] <[gTV]Karasuma_Akane> "Last night on Monday Night Raw, the WWE presented a special tribute show, recognizing the career of Chris Benoit. However, now some 26 hours later, the facts of this horrific tragedy are now apparent. Therefore, other than my comments, there will be no mention of Mr. Benoit tonight. On the contrary, tonight's show will be dedicated to everyone who has been affected by this terrible incident. This evening marks the first step of the healing process. Tonight, the WWE performers will do what they do better than anyone else in the world – entertain you."
[08:51] <[gTV]Aya_Reiko> Ara, McMahon-san must have been very angry that he cleared out the arena for that service and lost all that money.
[08:51] <[gTV]Karasuma_Akane> Maybe. If you watch the video, you can tell he was more than a little pissed
[08:54] <@SpeedRcrX> I can't say I blame him.
[08:55] <@SpeedRcrX> I felt f[BLEEP]king betrayed, when RIGHT After Raw I found out the details.
[08:55] * @SpeedRcrX still doesn't know what to think; if there was ONE f[BLEEP]king wrestler she respected for his work ethic and dedication it was Chris Benoit.
[08:56] <FireFly_9> Haruka-poppa.
[08:56] <FireFly_9> We don't know the details. We know the aftermath but that's not the same thing.
[08:56] <FireFly_9> Life != CSI.
[08:57] <FireFly_9> Benoit could have been set up. As some have said, perhaps his wife killed the child and he flew into a rage upon finding out this fact, committed an act of hot-blooded murder, regretted what he did and killed himself in grief.
[08:57] <FireFly_9> There was an "or" between thosr two sentences.
[08:58] <Mizunomics01> Everything I've heard regarding the Time of Death indicates the wife died before the son, Hotaru-chan.
[08:58] <FireFly_9> Yes, but that's all rumour. None of it has been confirmed officially.
[08:58] <@SpeedRcrX> WWE has a timeline thing, let me look.
[08:58] <[gTV]C'est_la_V> Minna-san.
[08:58] * [gTV]C'est_la_V sighs
[08:59] <[gTV]C'est_la_V> I've been an idol-watcher for my whole life, and kami-sama knows I've fallen hard for them (and I still do)
[08:59] <[gTV]C'est_la_V> But, even I know that we don't know the truth behind our idols.
[08:59] <[gTV]C'est_la_V> We see what they let us, and the world see.
[08:59] <[gTV]C'est_la_V> An idol has to always show the world her best smile, even on the days her heart is breaking.
[09:00] <// J_Daito //> Not if you're Britney Spears, then you just show up drunk in a limo with no underwear on and give the whole world a show.
[09:00] * [gTV]C'est_la_V ignores Jedite
[09:00] <[gTV]C'est_la_V> Demo... we don't know what pain Benoit-san might have been in, personally.
[09:00] <[gTV]C'est_la_V> We don't know how much he might have been hurting, or what happened, or what he knew.
[09:01] <[gTV]C'est_la_V> They said he sent wierd text messages before all this happened. We don't know what they say (yet).
[09:01] <[gTV]C'est_la_V> He could have been in incredible pain inside.
[09:02] * [gTV]C'est_la_V doesn't want to judge him.
[09:02] <@SpeedRcrX> Man neither do I.
[09:02] <@SpeedRcrX> I Loved him, man. As much as one can love a sports idol.
[09:03] <@SpeedRcrX> I respected the HELL out of him. This tears me up; I'm not trying to jump on the "let's s[BLEEP]t on Benoit" bandwagon here.
[09:03] <@SpeedRcrX> I want to know what the f[BLEEP]k happened. I want to know the Why
[09:03] <flame_SNIPER> Haruka-san, the cold truth is, as Minako-chan was saying, is that we only got to see the side of him that was on TV
[09:04] <@SpeedRcrX> Man I saw Stone Cold, John Cena and Steve Regal almost in f[BLEEP]king tears. They aren't good enough actors to lie. The man they knew was a good man, and they wept for him.
[09:04] <@SpeedRcrX> Something's not right here. I dunno what it is.
[09:04] <Mizunomics01> Haruka-san...
[09:05] <Mizunomics01> You know you might be trying to justify this.
[09:05] <@SpeedRcrX> Justify it? I can't justify murder.
[09:06] <@SpeedRcrX> Am I trying to find somethhing, anything, that doesn't make someone I respected and admired look like s[BLEEP]t? Maybe. But I honestly believe he was better than this.
[09:06] <FireFly_9> It's always hard when an idol falls from grace. It's a pity we fixate on the idols so remote from us rather than the heroes around us every day.
[09:06] <@SpeedRcrX> Man
[09:07] <@SpeedRcrX> to be blunt, we're not set up like that as a society. We know more about the lives of complete strangers on the TV than we do about our own neighbors.
[09:07] <@SpeedRcrX> and I ain't gonna apologize for it.
[09:08] <@SpeedRcrX> I never knew how much... how much esteem I had placed in Benoit till this happened.
[09:08] <@SpeedRcrX> And it's a lot.
[09:08] <flame_SNIPER> He was a good wrestler. You liked his Wrestling.
[09:09] <flame_SNIPER> I mean you're equating how well he delivered a "Flair chop" in the ring with who he is.
[09:09] <@SpeedRcrX> Man NO.
[09:09] <@SpeedRcrX> I KNOW that what goes on in the ring is staged, and that there are good and bad people out there.
[09:09] <@SpeedRcrX> Over the years I've heard of tons of wrestlers getting into s[BLEEP]t.
[09:09] <@SpeedRcrX> But not Benoit.
[09:10] <flame_SNIPER> You don't have the whole picture, though.
[09:10] <@SpeedRcrX> Neither do you, okay?
[09:11] <[gTV]Karasuma_Akane> Hold up guys
[09:11] <[gTV]Karasuma_Akane> I'm going to reprint the WWE Timeline here.

[09:17] <[gTV]Karasuma_Akane> Chris Benoit was scheduled to appear at the WWE SmackDown/ ECW live event in Beaumont, Texas
[09:17] <[gTV]Karasuma_Akane> 3:30pm
[09:17] <[gTV]Karasuma_Akane> A co-worker received a voice message from Benoit. The message from Benoit stated he missed his flight and over slept and would be late to the WWE Live Event. The co-worker called Benoit back, Benoit confirmed everything he said in his voice message and sounded tired and groggy. Benoit then stated, “I love you”. The co-worker stated that it was “out of context.”
[09:17] <[gTV]Karasuma_Akane> 3:42pm
[09:17] <[gTV]Karasuma_Akane> The same co-worker was concerned with Benoit’s tone and demeanor and called Benoit for a second time. Benoit did not answer the call and the co-worker left a message stating “just call me back.”
[09:18] <[gTV]Karasuma_Akane> 3:44pm
[09:18] <[gTV]Karasuma_Akane> Benoit called the co-worker back stating he didn’t answer the call because he was on the phone with Delta changing his flight. Benoit stated he had a real stressful day due to Nancy and Daniel being sick with food poisoning. They discussed travel plans for the WWE Tour of Texas with Benoit still sounding groggy at this point according to the co-worker.
[09:18] <[gTV]Karasuma_Akane> 4:30pm
[09:18] <[gTV]Karasuma_Akane> A co-worker who consistently travels with Benoit, called Benoit from outside Houston airport and Benoit answered. Benoit told the co-worker that Nancy was throwing up blood and that Daniel was also throwing up. Benoit thought they had food poisoning. Benoit stated he changed his flight and he would be arriving into Houston at 6:30pm. Benoit told the co-worker to drive onto the WWE event.
[09:18] <[gTV]Karasuma_Akane> 5:35pm
[09:18] <[gTV]Karasuma_Akane> Benoit called WWE Talent Relations stating that his son was throwing up and that he and Nancy were in the hospital with their son, and that Benoit would be taking a later flight into Houston, landing late, but would make the WWE live event in Beaumont.
[09:18] <[gTV]Karasuma_Akane> 6:10pm
[09:18] <[gTV]Karasuma_Akane> A representative of Talent Relations called Benoit. The representative from Talent Relations asked Benoit what time Benoit was getting into Beaumont. Benoit responded he was leaving Atlanta at 9:20pm Eastern time arriving into Houston at 9:24pm Central time. The representative from Talent Relations advised Benoit that it would be too late to make the WWE live event in Beaumont. Benoit apologized citing he had a family emergency. The representative from Talent Relations suggested to Benoit that instead of going to the WWE live event in Beaumont, Benoit should take the flight to Houston, rest up and be ready for the Vengeance Pay-Per-View event.
[09:18] <[gTV]Karasuma_Akane> 6:13pm
[09:19] <[gTV]Karasuma_Akane> The representative from Talent Relations called Benoit to reconfirm the travel plans with no answer from Benoit. The representative from Talent Relations left a voice message to take the flight and rest up.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s office has secured the house as a “major crime scene” and that the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office had no further information.
[09:23] <[gTV]Karasuma_Akane>

[09:27] <@SpeedRcrX> ...
[09:27] <FireFly_9> Well now we know the content of the text messages, assuming WWE isn't holding anything back
[09:27] <@SpeedRcrX> I heard rumours someone from Stamford CT was editing the Wikipedia page.
[09:28] * @SpeedRcrX goes to look
[09:29] <@SpeedRcrX> . It is notable that Benoit's bio on the WWE website fails to mention the WCW victory,[6] though its WCW Championship title history does.[8]
[09:29] <@SpeedRcrX> you know what, F[BLEEP]K you WWE.
[09:29] <@SpeedRcrX> He won that damn belt.
[09:30] <@SpeedRcrX> Wrestlemenia XX was NOT the culmination of his goal to win the World Title because he HAD ALREADY F[BLEEP]KING WON IT.
[09:30] <@SpeedRcrX> WCW Existed. GET OVER IT.
[09:30] <@SpeedRcrX> You know what pisses me off.
[09:31] <@SpeedRcrX> "WWE is stunned and saddened by the details released by authorities concerning the double homicide-suicide involving Chris Benoit, his wife, Nancy, and his son, Daniel. However, WWE is concerned with the sensationalistic reporting and speculation being undertaken by some"
[09:31] <@SpeedRcrX> "WWE® Shocked At Latest Developments In Benoit Tragedy, Concerned By Sensationalistic Reporting"
[09:32] <@SpeedRcrX> What reporting pray tell? Is it the reporting about what Benoit may / may not have done?
[09:32] <@SpeedRcrX> " Steroids were not, and could not, be related to the cause of death (asphyxiation). Authorities had no factual basis to speculate as to Benoit’s state of mind, and rightly did not do so."
[09:32] <@SpeedRcrX> "5. WWE strongly suggests that it is entirely wrong for speculators to suggest that steroids had anything to do with these senseless acts, especially when the authorities plainly stated there is no evidence that Benoit had steroids in his body, pending the toxicological reports, and that they had no evidence at this time as to the motive for these act"
[09:33] <@SpeedRcrX> WHAT THE F[BLEEP]K.
[09:33] <@SpeedRcrX> Who gives a S[BLEEP]T about the reputation of STEROIDS.
[09:33] <// J_Daito //> WWE needs Steroids to fuel their battling giant walls of man-flesh.
[09:33] <@SpeedRcrX> Man
[09:33] <@SpeedRcrX> It f[BLEEP]king sickens me.
[09:45] * @SpeedRcrX is away: This whole thing has f[BLEEP]ked me up
[09:46] <Mizunomics01> Toxicology reports on the bodies should be in in two weeks.
[09:46] <Mizunomics01> /awya we should know more then.
[09:46] * Mizunomics01 is away: ^
[09:47] <[gTV]C'est_la_V> Poor Haruka-san
[09:48] <[gTV]Karasuma_Akane> Boss, do I still have to do that exposť on O.J. Simpson?
[09:48] <[gTV]C'est_la_V> Hai.
[09:48] * [gTV]Karasuma_Akane is away: Dammit
[09:48] * [gTV]C'est_la_V is away: Gomen Nasai
[13:37] <FireFly_9> Something interesting.
[13:37] <FireFly_9> From the AP:
[13:38] <FireFly_9> "Investigators found anabolic steroids in the house and want to know whether the muscle man nicknamed "The Canadian Crippler" was unhinged by the bodybuilding drugs, which can cause paranoia, depression and explosive outbursts known as "roid rage.""
[13:38] <FireFly_9> "Benoit received drug deliveries from a Florida business that sold steroids, human growth hormone and testosterone on the Internet, according to the Albany County, N.Y., District Attorney's Office, which is investigating the business, MedXLife.com."
[13:38] <FireFly_9> "Six people, including two of the pharmacy's owners, have pleaded guilty in the investigation, and 20 more have been arrested, including doctors and pharmacists."
[13:39] <FireFly_9> "The WWE, based in Stamford, Conn., issued a statement Tuesday saying steroids "were not and could not be related to the cause of death.""
[13:39] <FireFly_9> "Steroids have been linked to the deaths of several professional wrestlers in recent years. Eddie Guerrero, one of Benoit's best friends, died in 2005 from heart failure linked to long-term steroid use."
[13:39] <FireFly_9> "The father of Curt "Mr. Perfect" Hennig blamed steroids and painkillers for Hennig's drug overdose death in 2003. Davey Boy Smith, the "British Bulldog," died in 2002 from heart failure that a coroner said was probably caused by steroids."
[13:39] <FireFly_9> Interesting how WWE is being so vocal and adamant about Steroids.
[13:40] <FireFly_9> I wonder if there is a coverup going on. I would be extremely tragic if WWE had "encouraged" its superstars to use steroids and it resulted in an unbalancing of Mr. Benoit.
[13:41] * FireFly_9 is away: They doth protest too much, methinks.

Sadly, I think you're correct Souldier. Oddly enough, it was this kind of social decline that eventually led to the formation of the United Citizen's Federation from "Starship Troopers" as well as the establishment of the Earth Alliance in "Babylon-5". Large segments of human culture hit rock-bottom...but then new factions finally got fed up, stepped forward, and pulled the collective ass of the human race out of the fire.

It's always darkest before the dawn.

Solarchos [e-mail] • 06/28/07 09:50pm

Whadya expect Solar? The public gives a shit more about the Celebutards then the Soldiers because they dont care about Soldiers. A majority of the American people are weak. they dont have what it takes to make it out there, and cant understand the concept of sacrifice.

Besides. Why be a hero-to-be-forgotten-within-a-week when you can be Famous and be a celebrity who'll be remembered forever...

Society won't evolve. This is the YouTube era and we're going backwards. Enjoy.

Souldier • 06/28/07 02:05am

[09:07] to be blunt, we're not set up like that as a society. We know more about the lives of complete strangers on the TV than we do about our own neighbors.

Society needs to evolve or die. If all people ever do is look to sensationalistic idols and "talking heads" as their inspiration, then what the hell are they doing? When useless, spoiled brats like Paris Hilton are getting way more attention in the news than real-life soldiers overseas fighting for their lives that shows you right there just how shallow some people have become.

Hotaru's comments are extremely interesting. I've already posted my comments about "Roid Rage" in the Forums. Clearly the WWE has a history of losing people to steroid abuse. Mr. Perfect, Eddie Guerrero, Davey Boy Smith...

Once is happenstance...twice is coincidence...three times is enemy action.

If those steroids were laced with something like amphetamines to boost energy output...

I imagine the autopsy and toxicology reports will be very enlightening.
